As if Smallville couldn't get any worse

Why couldn't it have been Lana that left.....for good.

Michael was the best actor on the show.

 

I think it's a good sign that we haven't seen her in the last few episodes. I mean she is still around, and yet they chose not to show her. Thank You Producers.

 

There's more details on this at www.aintitcool.com...I don't watch Smallville, but the report at aicn made even me cringe.

Ugh! I heard the rumors of Michael wanting to leave I was just hoping them were wrong.

 

I was just coming here to post about this. Don't know if it's in the Ain't It Cool article, but on Sci-Fi they mention some other villians they plan on bringing in to take Lex's place, including:

WTH? Are they planning on leaving ANY villians for him to fight when he becomes, you know, Superman? At the rate he's going he could hang up the cape by the time he's 25. He'll have beaten everybody already.

 

This isn't a surprise. His contract is up, and he's said on numerous occasions that he would not be resigning. For his career, he probably should've left a year or two ago.

Considering everybody's deal is done (other than perhaps the newcomers Lois, Jimmy and Kara) after next season, I hope the new producers find a decent way to wrap things up.

Milking one more season is a mistake. Even if the ratings are still decent, I hope the WB doesn't try and make it run any longer than that.

(One of those odd linguistic coincidences that resigning and re-signing had opposite meanings!)

In this year's finale they can just dunk Lex's head in some meteor rock soup and - voila! - a new actor can play Lex next year.

As you said, no surprise here. I wish Michael Rosenbaum the best. It will be interesting to see what he looks like with hair.

As for the show, it's sucked for several seasons. The fact that they planned it so poorly that the main villain won't even be there for the final season just makes it even worse. But of course I'll still watch, because I want to see how it ends (although I'm currently 3 eps behind).

 

That's not really poor planning. Like everybody else, he was signed for seven years. Unlike everybody else, he refused to extend his contract.

 

I think he stinks. His face doesn't move. It's the same expression.

Plus his chin does something REALLY weird when he talks. It's SOOO distracting.

That's my point about poor planning. They originally were going to end the show after S7, and signed everyone long enough for that. Then when they were able to get most of the rest of the cast for longer, they announced they were going to film S8, without first locking up the second most important actor. I think this season should have been the end.

 

The sad thing is, they way they've done the series to many people know about Clark, not only that, putting Smallville within driving distance of Metropolis kinda diminishes the farmboy moves to the big city aspect of Superman.

The original intent of the show was good, but it showed lack of foresight. The characters were going to age, move through school, go to college, move on.

Somehow, at some point, Clark needs to make the transition to Superman, but in my mind there's no plausible way to do that now. Good way to cap the series but how do you get it from where it is now to the point that he dons the tights.
