Apple TV+ is supposed to launch today. I understand that access to this new streaming service will be possible through TiVo, however I don’t see an Apple TV app. Does anyone know if and when the app will be made available by TiVo?

Where did you see that an Apple TV+ app will be available on TiVo? Please provide the reference. The only statement I remember seeing was that there will be an Apple TV app to be able to allow you to access TiVo content on the Apple TV (although that has not materialized either).

Tivo had become a household term for "record". What happened? On the Simpsons numerous times, referenced in TV and movies. Nobody says " I have to Xfinity that show".

I googled “Apple TV” and “TiVo” and found reference to a TiVo app that was supposed to be coming. Nothing yet. Just hoping.

That app works the other way tho, allows you to watch shows from your TiVo through an app on Apple TV. Not the other way around.

It's already there. I had it on my Roku Express yesterday.

You have the TiVo app on your Roku that connects to your TiVo ?
Or just the Apple TV app?

The Apple TV+ app is out on Roku. The TiVo app is not out yet on Roku or any of the set top boxes yet.

Wow thinking about something my grandfather would say goes something like "wish in one hand, sh** in the other. See which one gets filled first waiting for the apps.

Apple TV+ is on my Roku. There is no chance that AppleTV+ is going to land on the Tivo. At least in my lifetime or, quite frankly, Tivo's lifetime. Which is, I am going to say, unfortunate.

Nope. Late 2019 - early 2020 will be remembered as a period when TV took another big shift toward streaming, with the launches of Apple TV+, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock (from NBCUniversal), and a Discovery/BBC service. And none of them will make apps for TiVo (other than whatever TiVo units are running the Android TV platform and can download the apps from Google Play).

TiVo is the original cable DVR, an icon of the TV 2.0 era. But we're quickly shifting into the TV 3.0 era now and TiVo isn't up to the task.

Agreed, I’m moving away from TiVo myself unfortunately. I’m going to keep cable for a little bit longer though and use an hdhomerun Prime or two sleuth Plex and the channels dvr app. We will see what TiVo is able to do or not do in 2020.

I have a multitude of boxes: TiVo, Roku and Shield TV. I have Fios TV and I am keeping Fios because it is still less expensive than all the premium streaming channels I would want and pay for. So.....despite my disappointment that TiVo has not created ""a box to rule all boxes", it is still a million times better than Fios' DVR.
