I don't recall anyone saying that the guy was killed---just that he got someone "shot"

    Yeah, it was a pretty...distinctive movie. :D

They didn't say whether he died, but the shot did appear to hit in the turtleneck, above the body armor -- so at a minimum he'd be in the hospital for a while. There's not that much room for a 'flesh wound' in the throat / neck area so it was probably pretty serious.
But it was odd that they never referred to his condition afterwards except as "shot".

Finally watched this. Didn't see anything worth keeping. Typical use of tech that doesn't exist to solve problems in seconds. And of course "regression analysis". Sure, why not.

My favorite was the APB app. They acted like it was a YUGE deal when it was used, but it's just 911 in different clothes. Barely different.

It would have helped if the people (or story) were more interesting. But they were all plain vanilla and interchangeable.

    One and done for me.

I had to catch the first episode On Demand and I enjoyed it. Looks like it's going to be a fun show to watch, for a while anyway. I have the show set to record now.

Pretty much, though it seems like it might have an 'alert' mode as well where the police can push a picture or alert to people in the geographic area near a report and ask them to alert if they see the suspect / car etc.

But even 911 in a text mode with the ability to automatically and quickly push photos and videos from witness's phone to the police and back down to the officers in the field. is a worthwhile improvement. Especially if you can semi-automate some of the actions and get an available car moving in the right direction while you follow up with details.

It's not an awe inspiring tech change, but it could be some noticeable improvement over voice phone 911.

I'd never use an app like that though---can't do it anonymously

Fair enough. Well, the app / backend designers could have set it up where it deliberately doesn't maintain or record uniquely identifying information. But I really doubt they would have. There are so many reasons for the police to want to know who sent the alert.

Of course unless you use a payphone it's pretty hard to many a truly anonymous call to 911. They know exactly who owns the phone number that was called from, and even if it's a shared landline they could pretty quickly narrow down the list of people with access to it. Now maybe they wouldn't bother most of the time, but they often could if they had any reason to.

Excellent observation. I watched the first episode and not anxious to see more. I may hold off and binge it later.

Like I said in the other thread, about Lucifer..

This show is: If Elon Musk ran a police station.

Pure Genius did the idea (..with a hospital..) much much much better.

This one is close to me stopping recording, since I'm still consistently full on my tivos and recording too much.. It would be nice to watch during summer.. so maybe I'll just bump it down to SD recordings and wince if/when I actually watch it.

Made it through the pilot, but couldn't get past #2.

Too many holes and stupid stuff. I did like the premise, but like so many shows today, the writing and follow through is atrocious.

I said above this was a one & done for me, but I forgot to delete the SP and there was E2, sitting on the Genie. So I watched it. And remembered to delete the SP this time.

Pretty much what you said. The writing is terrible. I like the actors, but the story is just so dumb...

I also ended up pulling the plug after 2. This shouldn't bug me as much as it did, but [minor ep 2 spoilers]
how was the tech genius's plan for stopping high speed car chases motorcycles with spike strips rather than trying to fit an EMP device on a drone?

Also do I remember correctly that the bad guy was trying to get a performance carburetors for his stolen (fuel-injected) modern muscle car ?!?

Sorry to be "that guy" but this thread should only have spoilers for the first episode; personally I haven't watched the second yet.

No problem. My fault - for some reason I thought this was a season thread not a pilot ep thread and didn't double-check. I went back spoiler tagged my prior post.

Referencing @Jonathan_S post above, with his spoilers.... an additional E2 comment: (not a huge spoiler, but it's from E2)

The car guy the female cop knew to ask originally said he (the bad guy) had a red muscle car (or maybe sports car) that he wanted the car guy to soup up for him. She pushed the car guy about it, and he finally confessed he sold the bad guy the car. But unless I missed it, they still were looking for "a red muscle car". Wouldn't they know the exact car/model, if the car guy did actually sell it to him? Doesn't he know what he sold?

It's small items like this that made me kill the SP. The writers gotta be better than this.

No spoilers, but I actually liked episode 2. Not well enough to know any of the characters names yet LOL - but I kind of enjoyed all the characters and the basic good guy vs. bad guy premise.
Certainly better thus far than say Hawaii 5-0, Bull or Lethal Weapon.
