Are any items (hulu, netflix, music videos, music, youtube, amazon, etc) that are not part of my cable package and obtained via my tivo transferable?

I only did a few things with some music and youtube and found a no go for transfer to computer (or ipod, etc).

is all of it copy protected, negating the neat part of tivo allowing us to use stuff on other devices?

No, Netflix, Hulu, youtube cannot be transferred to another devvice or PC because they are not recorded on the TiVo, they are streamed. Amazon and Blockbuster are copy protected as per their policies.

Note the Amazon policy allows the content to be simultaneously extant on more than 1 device (or t least it used to allow this - I haven't looked in quite a while). I seem to recall the limit was 3. I don't know about Blockbuster.

Basically, anything downloaded to the Tivo through the internet will be copy protected. Doesn't matter even if you own that material (e.g. purchased through Amazon).
Even podcasts are protected, which (IMO) is stupid because you can freely download them at any time.
