The cases comes with a set of sata cables. Are they good for the Tivo and the MX-1 to work properly?
yes.. mine have functioned since the first week of kickstart 62 with no issues whatsoever. (using the cable that came with the MX-1)
Hi - I put a 750GB DB35 into an MX-1, and did kickstart 62 on a stock Series3. Worked fine - not one freeze or GSOD - for about a month, then Tivo went into a mode where it would reboot and then freeze. Divorced the drive cleanly, but Tivo would still boot and freeze.
Tivo ended up doing the $49 replacement for me. So, be forewarned.. However, I suspect that the first Tivo died coincidentally. Hey, to answer your question - it recorded nearly constantly, mostly HD, for a month without a hiccup. So I'd say the cable is fine.
I have a MX-1 that I am using with a PC. I use such for large (2-4gb) daily backups and was having problems at first. My problems dissapeared once I replaced the eSATA cable. YMMV.
BB has them on sale this week only, under $50
