I looked, but didn't see another post.

Zatz is reporting that TiVo just released a download functionality. I will play around with it on my emulated tonight and see how it works.

There's a thread in the stream forum, but yes, very nice addition.

It works. Downloaded a show earlier today, then played it from the tablet just now. Works great. The app is very fast, whereas the older one was slow as molasses. Also, the older app had a habit of not logging in properly. Almost always had to stop the login, then restart to get it to work. Now it logs in instantly, properly. Captions work well.

The entire app is much snappier and peppier.

Yes, TiVo Margret tweeted about version 3.1 for Android yesterday.

I side loaded it onto my Kindle Fire HDX. It does allow you to download shows finally, but playback doesn't seem work quite right. Only the 30 second skip seems to work, and the progress bar never updates as the show plays (increasing green bar). The user interface is very limited as opposed to the iPad/iPhone version.

Hopefully a specific Kindle TiVo app is imminent as well?

I can't get video in basic quality to play. But high and medium quality work fine. Anyway I can fix the problem with basic quality?

I know this can vary based on a number of factors (transcode time, upload speed, etc.), but how long should you expect a download to take OOH? It is saying 40 minutes for a 350mb file (1 hour program at basic quality). Was going to try high quality but that estimate was 2 hours for the download.

Could it be that your specific device doesn't support the specific profile/level they use to encode basic?

Not sure about Android, but on iOS if you can't log in there is an option to watch the downloaded shows. It takes you to My Shows on iPad and everything else is grayed out.

On the login screen there is a choice at the bottom to go to my shows on the device. I suspect if you put your device in airplane mode the app will stop at the login screen since it can't proceed and show you that choice. I saw it when my wifi was connected.

I have the same model phone and have the same problem on playback. The video freezes after a few seconds but the audio and closed captions keep playing without error.

I thought this might be a network bandwidth problem, so I tried downloading the show to the phone, but still had the same problem.

After reading this thread, I went back and checked the quality settings. Turns out I had downloaded in basic quality to save time and memory. When I loaded a different show in medium quality, that plays correctly.

Interesting that we are both seeing this problem on the same phone. Wonder if the fault is in the TiVo app or the LG video codec.

BTW, I am using version 3.1.0-841080 of the TiVo Android app.

Unfortunately, it looks like you must. When the phone is in airplane mode, the app takes me to the My Shows / On Phone screen and lists the shows stored on the phone. However, when I try to play one, I get an error message about the network not being available. Since off-line viewing is allowed on the iOS version, I hope they fix this on the Android version soon.
