    Per Michael Ausiello:

    Tom Bergeron
    Heidi Klum
    Howie Mandel
    Jeff Probst
    Ryan Seacrest

Just when they get a respectable nominee field, they go and fark it up some other way. Why don't you just shoot us all in the head right now and get it over with, guys?

Not really excited about this. Seems like it might be difficult for any of them to get any sort of rhythm going (i.e., running jokes).

It would be better than the awful "audience in the round" thing they did last year.

Uh... these are not the hosts. These are the nominees for "Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality - Competition Program".

getbak, ha, yeah I just realized that they could be both, checked it out and went back to correct myself! :)

At least that makes it a little more reasonable to have them hosting. Still I agree with the OP it's a pretty silly idea...

Hah! Get nominated -- and you have to work that show!

Why didn't they just nominate the Presidential candidates, then? THAT would be an interesting Emmy show with Obama and McCain as hosts. ;) :p :D

At least we'll only see Seacrest 1/5th the time we saw him ham it up and make a mockery of the ceremony last year.

I just hope it's back to a traditional format this year - that was indeed a mistake last year, with award winners having to keep their backs to half the audience while accepting, sometimes even to their own cast!

To vote for Tom Bergeron, here is the number, 1-877-555-1231. or text message to 51231. Remember these are 877, not 800 numbers, and the lines open at the end of the show.

Isn't "Deal or No Deal" a game show? So shouldn't that be in the running on the daytime Emmy's along with Wheel,Jeopardy and Millionaire? I don't see Howie as a reality show host.

Um, it IS called the Primetime Emmy Awards, and DonD IS in prime time. So what's the problem?

Historically, I believe game shows have been included in the Daytime Emmy awards, even if they are evening game shows.

"Primetime" is defined as 6 PM-2 AM for Emmy purposes. Since Jeopardy and Wheel are on after 6 PM in most of the country, having these shows compete in the Primetime awards would make more sense, but the Emmy types allow game shows to compete as daytime shows if they air before 8 PM (7 Central / Mountain) - something Deal or No Deal does not do.

(Also note that these are not "reality" shows, which have their own category (true, it's shunted off to the Who Cares Creative Arts awards), but "reality-competition" shows. How is Deal not a "reality" show? If it involves having to actually show the contestants "living" somewhere during the show, then how does American Idol qualify as one?)

Besides (as I said on another forum), there is more reality in game shows than there is in the way they broadcast the audition rounds of American Idol...
