I've been enjoying it including the nostalgic look back at the AI phenomenon.

I still pretty much fast forward through anything the judges have to say but tonight should be interesting. I was actually even tempted to vote

I hope La'Porsha wins, but Trent definitely has a better winner's single.

I have to say - that was well done.
    Everybody looked and sounded great.
    Very nice send off.

So how extra-long did the last episode go?

It was in a 2 hour 6 minute time slot, I added a half hour thinking it'll probably go extra long (I won't be at home).. But I can change the time via the iOS app if necessary..

(I'm actually using quickmode to finally watch *last* season's episodes.. Listen to the actual songs most of the time, quickmode through the rest of the stuff..)

At the end Seacrest said "Goodbye" and everything went black then you hear him say "for now" as if there's something brewing.

Nothing firm, but Simon Fuller says he's already coming up with ideas for the next iteration of the show, whenever it happens.

As of right now, though, the show is over.

It went exactly 2 hours and 6 minutes.
I was expecting it to go over but it was very on time.

We watched it. It was pretty decent seeing a lot of the older/past contestants show up.

Carrie Underwood looked nice and sounded great. Fantasia is still a terrible singer IMO. Simon was a great judge even though he could get brutal. But his "Schlick" with Paula is annoying.

As far as the final two, I was rooting for LaPorsha. Trent definitely has a voice but I can't stand to watch him sing.

I enjoyed that no one seemed to have a diva attitude.
The right people seemed to get solos and they all seemed fine sharing the spotlight.

As far as I could figure the only contestants who didn't show up were Adam Lambert and that Mormon boy David Archuleta.
Mariah Carey seemed to be the only past judge not to weigh in.

I sometimes forget how young some of the contestants were - some of them now in their late 20s are looking awesome. Even Scotty McCreery has grown into a handsome man LOL.

No Casey Abrahms. No Crystal Bowersox. I am not sue I saw Hayley Reinhart

But overall I thought they did a good job of bringing folks back.

That's the one I was trying to remember last night. I thought she was pretty good when she was on idol. I haven't heard anything from her since then though.

Josh Gracin also wasn't there due to a death in the family. That also explains why Constantine appeared in the country number, as he took his place last minute.

I was trying to figure out why Constantine was in the country number.

Also apparently the Jennifer Hudson / Fantasia and I think Latoya? section was taped last weekend because Hudson is currently doing Color Purple on Broadway and had a performance in NY last night...

Was Clay Aiken there? I didn't watch the show, but I've been seeing a lot of that guy on CNN lately as a guest political commentator. That's how I learned he actually ran for Congress in North Carolina.

Yes, Clay was there and performed. I live in the Congressional district where he ran; it was extremely odd seeing his campaign signs.

Wait, you forgot to include the religious beliefs of the 3 others you mentioned in your post. Why just point out David's?

Better show than I expected, but my expectations were very low. Seems to me that Jennifer Lopez is trying a bit too hard at her age. The booty shaking marathon at the end of her bit reeked of desperation. She will never be Beyonce, but being 12 (or 11 or 10) years older doesn't seem to stop her from trying to be.
