Well, this certainly earns its title, as it borrowed from many different American horror movies, then sexed them all up. I'm not even sure who's real or not, or what their deal is. But it's got my extreme interest, and how can you ask for more than that?

It was certainly fun to watch. I've never seen a tv series anything like this.

    Connie Brittion....need we say more?

This is certainly stretching the limits of allowable language and sex for mainstream cable....I don't think I've heard the word c*cksucker before on regular cable at this time of night...

...and, for those of you, like me, who normally skip the closing credits....watch them. Who's the artist/music playing over the closing credits?

Wow, that was so bizarre and off the wall that I don¬ít even know if I have an opinion on it yet. But I will ‎definitely keep watching.‎

Seems like this would have been better on HBO, but they certainly got away with a lot for cable.‎

The first episode had everything you could want from a TV show. A basement creature, dead ginger twins, a woman calling her Down Syndrome girl a "mongoloid," a shape-cloaking housekeeper fondling herself, gimp rape, teenage girls in a catfight, cutters, and a man crying while masturbating at an open window while another man (with half a face) watched.

It's a confusing sort of show, but in a good way. So far. I think. Definitely will keep watching.

Ryan Murphy must be a very troubled man.

Nip/Tuck was pretty twisted but pales in comparison to this.

We liked it. The "horror" elements were kind of weird/stupid but they still were creepy enough.

I liked it, and I will most likely keep watching as long as it stays on the air. I am impressed by the quality of the actors, the writing, and production. I can't remember another TV horror series like this. I haven't watched any shows on FX, so I was very surprised by the MA content.

One thing I'm not sure I liked is how fast things got so strange. In the first episode, the guy already sees the maid as a different person than who she really is? Or is she even a person? Didn't the neighbor say she had killed her? Then the wife has kinky sex with who, a ghost? Her husband was feeling up the gas stove flames at the time, so I assume it wasn't him. I suspect whoever it was is the father of her baby. Demon baby! Yes, this show definitely borrows heavily from past horror movies. You'd think things would get bizarre more gradually, but maybe they wanted to hook people in with the first episode..

The neighbor said "Don't make me kill you again" so my money is on the two faced housekeeper being a ghost/spirit/apparition/whatever with a side order of succubus.

    I liked it.
It's twisted enough to hold my interest, so I'm in.
The only thing I can think of that was even similar was American Gothic, which I rewatch all the time and loved.

And it has a Twin Peaks vibe. Only played straight, and without the creepy music.

Which I suppose could describe American Gothic as well... :D

Exactly. She's probably the ghost of a maid that Jessica Lange's character killed in the past. Everybody else sees her at the age she was when she was killed, but the husband is seeing how she looked in her youth.

Just did a rewatch with the husband, and in that same scene Jessica Lange also said "I'd be nervous if I were you two," so neighbor ... ok Constance (had to look it up) is aware of the dual nature of Moira the housekeeper.

ETA- spoilered only because I am paranoid of you guys...
I don't think that Moira is the only ghost, either.
I think the family is pretty unique to that particular part of the neighborhood, i.e. both Constance and her child are remnants of the past as well.

Why would you think she said that and not, "I'd be nervous if I were you, too?"

    The context and the delivery.
Watch it and see- I found her meaning to be quite clear.
