Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything. Is anyone else having problems with the Amazon Prime Video app freezing/crashing? This started yesterday. My software version is 20.7.4b.RC3-846-6-846. Trying to binge a show and having it freeze and crash is driving me insane. I have tried rebooting the box and it didn't help.

My internet seems fine. I am on my laptop at the same time.

The app drops the internet from the device.

Apparently, there is Error Code 1060, which has only come up now for the first time since yesterday. Googling that, it says I don't have enough bandwidth to stream video but nothing else would eat the bandwidth, I don't think. My phone is on the wifi but I am not using it when this happens. My laptop is on the wifi but I am just reading TCF. Could that be the cause? I have been binge-watching things for weeks on Netflix and Amazon without issue until yesterday.

OK, it seems to only be a TiVo bandwidth issue since I have been able to successfully stream to my laptop without interruption for almost half an hour but the TiVo app is still frozen.

Is the Tivo using WiFi or a wired Ethernet connection? If WiFi the signal may be weak at that spot. Wired is better. If you don't have an Ethernet jack nearby you can use MOCA or a pair of Homeplug devices that use your electrical wiring for Ethernet.

Its not weak, the problem is the app drops the wifi connection completely for no reason. Sometimes, its dropped just as you start the video.
Happened on the Roamio and iPad2. iPad is too old for any more updates.

TiVo streaming is very slow, so I bought a Roku for streaming. It is lightning fast compared to TiVo. Well, worth the small investment. I use Ethernet for TiVo and Roku. I got tired of waiting for TiVo to make a connection and start the show.

Yes, exactly. Stop using Tivo apps especially on Roamio, which is too slow now to run them well (if at all).

Use Roamios as DVRs, get streamers or use your TVs for everything else. You'll have a much better experience.

It is just still strange since it has been totally fine until 2 days ago.

I just decided for the heck of it to check out my TV's smart capabilities. I had thought it was a smart TV but apparently not. (Long story but I didn't actually buy it so I am not out money for a smart TV so it's OK). Maybe I will have to look into a streaming device. Watching on my laptop, while it works, is no fun when I have a 55" TV to use.

The Amazon Prime movie interface is TONS better on the external devices as compared to the Tivo's, e.g. particularly with speed of FF/Rew and specifically being able to see a thumbnail as one is zipping along. And many, many other features.

I just don't know why the problem just suddenly came up. Anyway, I need to research external streaming devices. I know absolutely nothing about any of them so I have no clue which may be best.

Does your laptop have an HDMI output that you could plug into an available port on your TV?

Yes, it does. I guess I could put the laptop near the TV across the room but I normally have it sitting on the coffee table in front of me when I watch TV. I like to read TCF and do other things at the same time.

Issue seems to be resolved. I had restarted the TiVo box but it didn't occur to me to restart the router. That seems to have fixed it.

Also login to your router and check for a firmware upgrade. My router (ASUS) gets updates about once a month.

The Roku Ultra is the best choice if you want an ethernet connection instead of just wifi.
I got the 2019 model for $79, still available on Amazon.
