I pad any network show that I may record on Sunday, it's not only football that runs long but sometimes golf and other sports.

I may be wrong, but I think this means the only conflict now for TAR would be March Madness. That'd be two consecutive Fridays in March that would probably result in preempting rather than delaying, since basketball goes until like 11 PM at least one of those two weeks.

Of course, they skipped a week this year for the CMAs or something like that, so it's really only one extra week that would need to be preempted.

Small price to pay for not having football overruns. :)

There have been at least a couple occasions when that wasn't enough. We pad 2 hours.

I split the difference and pad an hour and a half. :)

Same here, although one time it came real close to going over 90 minutes.

Simple... especially with 4-6 tuners... do one manual record for CBS from 7p-12:30am. While we keep season passes of TAR, TGW and any other Sunday CBS Shows, we delete the specific records as they pop up on the TO DO List. So we wind up with one record of CBS for the entire night.

Takes up too much space. You are stuck with the full recording if you don't want to watch all the shows right away.

Exactly. If you watch TAR on the night it airs, but you're a couple episodes behind on The Good Wife or The Mentalist, then you have to keep that 6 hour recording potentially for several weeks. The alternative, especially with 4-6 tuners, is to just record each one separately with a one-hour pad, and then you can delete each episode as you watch it.

Of course, on the flip side, those of us on the East Coast can spoil the result for you before it even airs on the West Coast :)

No matter to me. I just go to my NPL when I ready to watch TV and pick something. With 6 tuners I don't have to worry about any conflicts.

I'll suffer padding a few recordings on a Sunday for the benefit of not having to get up early to watch football at 10:00am or rush home from work on a Monday night.

Yes, I know I have seven tuners on my DVRs, but I like to watch my football (close to) live!

That was the absolute BEST part of living on the West Coast. I used to get up Sunday morning have breakfast and watch football. Since I rooted for an NFC East team, if they were on and playing in the early game it meant by 1PM I was done with football and still had the rest of the day to do other things. It was great. At worst, if I watched 2 games, we were done by 4 and could go out for a nice dinner before prime time started. Now, I have to rush home for a 1PM game, and if I watch the doubleheader, my day is completely shot (not to mention, the weather in the fall and winter in San Diego was beautiful :) ).

The Monday night thing...yeah, that's a pain. But these days, I'd just record the games. While it would be a struggle to not get the score, I'd figure out a way to do that.
