Anybody else notice that Nick and Vicki did not do the speed bump - or at least they didn't edit in the episode? They were last in the non-elimination last week - shouldn't there have been a speed bump?

I was wondering the same thing. I even had to asked my wife if i had missed the speed bump.

My wife and I were thinking the same thing. Maybe it was the many penalties that rendered the speed bump pointless.

We went through the entire episode again to see where they did it. I liked how it was another producer manipulation to have the circus be closed and bunch up all the teams. Do they really expect us to believe that it was closed at 830am? I hate how this stupid season is spending more time in the same cities as well as not telling us how far apart the teams are. You'll notice that the tattoo couple finished last week in the dark. That's at least an hour or two behind everyone else.

Even if the speed bump was edited out usually the speed bump box is next to another clue box and we didn't even see one, at least I didn't but could have easily overlooked it.

With an hour pad the ending was still cutoff. Kevin and Michael were going up the stairs of the pit stop. What happened? Did they get penalized and the couple from Florida not get eliminated? What happened to the couple's bags?

The couple had to go back and settle with the driver. Kevin and Michael received two penalties at 30 min each, one for using the driver to escort them to the tower and one for taking a cab from the tower to the church (was it a church?). The couple came back and had a penalty for taking a cab from the tower to the church but it didn't matter as Kevin and Michael were still waiting out their penalty.

The couple had to go back, get their bags, and pay the cab before Phil would check them in. They then had a 30 minute penalty, but since the father/son had 2 30 minute penalties, they (the father and son) were the ones eliminated.

    Funniest line of the night......

"Chad was being so supportive". I actually laughed out loud at that.

I wondered about a speed bump too. They were so far behind I am not sure how they caught up so quickly. Did the circus not open until noon?

Go Brooke and Claire and Go Docs!

I second guessed myself about the speed bump too. I even went to look it up.

If you're gonna give a team a penalty for being last in a non-elimination leg and be clear to the viewing audience that they'd have an extra task to do, you'd better darn well air that part of the leg on tv.

I wanted Chad and Stephanie to go, and go now. Chad has been more of a jerk in some episodes, but I JUST DON'T LIKE HIM. So really, I wanted only him to go. But if they couldn't kick just Flo off, I guess Chad has to stay.

When all the cab business happened, though, I knew Michael and Kevin were gone. Too bad, though they were probably gone soon, anyway.

At the very end of the credits, it does say:
I expected to see some sort of statement that edits may have been made that didn't affect the outcome.

Together with restrictive and more obscure clues, infinitely frustrating tasks made this seem more like classic TAR than any ep in a long time. Loved it. That, plus we got to hear the patented "oh s**t" noise more times than I can count. :D They've really made more of an effort the last couple eps, which is great to see after weeks of phoning it in.

Michael and Kevin have no one to blame but themselves, and I'm so pleased to see them gone. It was a terrible misread of the clue, and the son's apparent indifference when the TV hosts told them about it at the tower (not to mention his later blaming the father for it at the pit stop!) sealed his standing as a major d-bag. I was happy that they were able to finish the bowling, only because it meant they had to wait at the pit stop and watch their standing slip away.

    Next week's previews:

Chad and Stephanie apparently sleep in! Haven't seen that happen in a while.

I feel sorry for Stephanie if that was Chad being supportive. He must be an even bigger ass irl.

I'm routing for the Docs and for Brook and Claire as well.

Glad to see Kevin gone. What a baby.

I do seem to remember that Kevin was quicker to throw his father under the proverbial bus in this episode, more than he has before. Maybe that was just a "loser edit"...

If you go back to the end of the last episode, Phil never mentions a speed bump for this week. I thought that was kinda weird at the time but had forgotten about it until it was mentioned here.

That was the way I remembered it, too. I was still assuming there would be a speed bump, but the fact that there apparently wasn't (as there was no mention of it this week) and that it wasn't even mentioned last week really makes me think there wasn't one. First time I remember a non-elimination leg not carrying any kind of penalty at all.

It's so frustrating when a team does not read the entire instructions. How can that happen? It's so basic. If I were racing and had the time, I would be reading the instructions over and over again to make sure that I did not miss anything. Michael and Kevin certainly had the time since they were doing nothing but sitting in the back of a taxi.

Also, how can a 58-year old man be so weak?

    They deserved to go.

I actually went back to the beginning of this episode too. Phil only says they arrived last, were saved by a non-elim leg and lived to race another day.

I still think it was poor form if they weren't required to complete a speed bump, or it was just one of those really lame tasks like sitting on a block of ice for 10 min that made absolutely no impact at all. If you're penalizing a team with an extra task, you need to come up with something that won't set them back half a day, but it also needs to be one in which they have to put forth some real effort or be creative to get it done.

I'm watching this season because I've been a fan of the show from the beginning. However, I do have to agree with other TCFers that this has been a less than stellar season and there really isn't anyone I'm rooting for.

During the first four seasons, there was no penalty whatsoever for finishing last.

I'm sure Nick and Vicky had to do something, but considering the last Speed Bump involved sitting on a block of ice for 10 minutes, I'm sure it didn't affect the outcome of the leg at all. Since the producers knew the Speed Bump wouldn't be shown, they'd cut out its mention last week. There have been times in the past where they've cut out tasks to show other things taking place.
