I have a question. Did the Bancrofts only have the son? There was the scene where Kovac walked in on Mrs Bancroft with the bodyguard or whatever that guy was. She then said it was her kid's stack in the body. Liked to take the state of the art mom's clone out for a spin some times. I thought it was a daughter, but then I never actually saw a daughter. Then later I remember the scene with the son and I guess his male partner. So, the son is gay. Was he the one in mom's body?

Despite lots of plot holes and a dislike for the envoy backstory, I enjoyed this quite a bit. Loved Poe and the AIs.

I am interested in reading the books now.

Well this is how Kovacs described her in the book. "I thought about those ancient eyes in the pneumatic teenager's body, and the idea of carrying on a conversation with Miriam Bancroft was suddenly repellent".

Of course we know how that ended; on a happy note.

Bancroft told Kovacs he has had a large number of children with his wife, I think it was more than twenty.

Oh, they didn't really focus on kids other than the son though, right? I don't remember any other kids. So, it wasn't the son's stack in mom's sleeve? It was one of the other kids, maybe?

I found this terribly disappointing with tons of bad casting.

By the time I got to episode 3, I was fast forwarding all over the place.
I love Joel Kinnaman otherwise I would have just stopped watching completely.

As far as too much nudity? There can NEVER EVER be too much Joel Kinnaman naked.

She said 21 to Kovacs, I'm, pretty sure.'

Yes, that was what happened, at least through episode 3. :D

I was really disappointed that they killed Poe, he was pretty great.

I'm sure they could write their way out of it if desired.

I'm 6 episodes in and really enjoying it. I read the books some time ago. There are some differences, but my memory isn't great so I'm probably not catching them all.

IIRC, the sex scene with Bancroft was very explicit in the book. Anyone complaining about the nudity on the show, may want to pass on reading the books. Otherwise, I highly recommend them.

One that put down rebel uprisings!

I can see the writers deciding that rebel underdogs make better heroes. But rebels aren't sent to other worlds (expensive) to adapt and blend in. Rebellions are local. Even the name Envoys sounds like a government name, not a rebel one.

I'm through episode 4 and plan on binging it tonight and tomorrow. Once again, my terrible memory comes to the rescue as I don't remember much from the books (other than the fact that I enjoyed them tremendously) and so almost everything is not spoiled for me. The one thing I remembered was the AI hotel and how it was going to help him with the people sent to kill him.

Did the book, or the show, explain how a hotel stays open when it hasn't had a visitor in 50 years?

The show did not. And I don't recall a "50 year" reference from the book. But it was empty, and those types of hotels were not popular anymore. It must have another way to keep the power on and pay the taxes.

I may be mis-remembering, though. I don't recall the hotel having a human manifestation. I thought it was just a voice.

I just started watching this show Sunday night. And watched the second episode last night. I enjoyed the first two episodes and am looking forward to watching the rest over the next week or two.

Binged S1 over the last two days. Enjoyed it and will watch a S2 if it's produced.

Can't believe I'm about to say this.... Too much nudity. It was gratuitous in any way you define the word. Not that there weren't scenes where it was appropriate, there were. Just too many where it was there just for it's own sake. I'm not 13, I've seen boobs... get on with the show!

I did enjoy the envoy backstory, it helped provide some context and tied certain plot elements together imo. (I never read the books so this is all I have to go on).

It's no Firefly, but it's among the best SciFi I've seen in a while.

6 episodes in and I'm loving it. The surprise ending in episode 6 was good (not saying more so I don't spoil it for people who have not watched that far yet). The lady cop is so tiny! but she has an amazing body.

I really hate that actor who plays the fight club owner. I only mildly tolerated him on Eureka but otherwise always hated him.

1 episode left for me. I do have 2 things that bothered me (irrelevant, minor details):

    1. Ortega and Sami (Samir?) were talking and she said that they do not even worship the same God. I don't know how it's possible for a Christian and Moslem to not know that both do worship the same God, they just use different books to do so.

    2. While people in the future didn't have that meeting where everyone agreed to wear the exact same jumpsuit, it seems like they did have the meeting about everyone carrying a small, clear, umbrella. No colors are allowed. They must all be transparent and too small to stop the rain from drenching you anyway.

I am pretty sure that many (maybe most) Christians do not believe this.
