When Coulson is trying to get through to Tony, early in the movie, and Tony is having "13% of a moment" with Pepper, he answers the phone with "You have reached the Life Model Decoy of Tony Stark..." at which point, IIRC, Coulson simply opens the door and walks in, interrupting his attempt to pretend he wasn't home.

Of course a viewer should think about what science is unchanged and what science the writers have changed. The writers should think about it, too. The best science fiction just changes (or doesn't change but assumes something that scientists are in the dark about) one thing, or a small number of things, and then keeps the rest of the world the same as reality. If they start randomly changing anything they want just to forward the plot (or worse, because they are ignorant of science), then that is sloppy writing and no fun to watch.

He said it was an old SHIELD project so it's probably not the first.

In the final two episodes none of the characters mentioned a nuclear explosion, none of the characters said it was a nuclear warhead.

Did anyone else catch the callback to "The Thing From Another World" (1951)?

I was lol'ing when they were trying to "fry" Hive in the corridor. It was straight out of the scene where the airmen electrocute James Arness in the hallway at the end of the movie.

Certainly what they appear to want us to think, but that would be seriously failing upwards.

Every time they had a tight shot of the cross, I was expecting them to play the Brady Bunch Cursed Tiki Idol musical cue.

They probably made Gen. Talbot the new director.

You can tell by his mustache that he is a man of importance, and not to be trifled with.

The "WTF?" look on WoFat's face when Fitz shot him with the invisible gun had me ROFL.

Had there been any kind of setup for that invisible gun before that? I don't remember one. Did the writers anger Chekov's ghost? :)

For the gun itself no, but the Quinjets have cloaking technology and the SHIELD Helicarrier did have those reflective panels.

Sure, but the cloaking tech for something as small as a handgun is actually much more advanced than for cloaking a large ship, if you think about it, since the device to provide the cloaking would have to be fairly small as well.

If they didn't "show the gun on the wall in act one", as it were, and demonstrate small scale cloaking at some point in the past, I imagine most of the viewers ended up with the same look on their faces as the inhuman he shot. :)

They've cloaked the little drones that they used to spy on the ATCU when Coulson was at their facility.
