I am considering the purchase of a refurbed Roamio to replace an aging Premiere. My question is: Since it has Lifetime Service, would I still have the ability watch/transfer recordings on the Premiere after I remove the cable card, if I leave it connected to my network?

    Thanks in advance!

Cable cards are not locked into your recorded shows, only used to access the channels.

Thanks—That is what I thought. I just wanted to make sure I am not missing something. So, it seems to me that there would be no problem using the old unit for extra storage?

Tivo is not a good for a long term storage. If ever, the hard drive fails, you lose everything. Unlike a computer hard drive, when that fails or have small part of the hard drive fail, you can still recover most of the data.
