Access Card

    I've had my HR10 for 3 years now with no problems until recently. For about a week now, I periodically (multiple times / day) get the "Please insert Access card" message at the bottom of the screen in the blue box. When this happens, the screen goes black and all I see is the message. A few seconds later, the picture comes back. Is this a problem with HR10 or has the access card gone bad (which would be odd)?

    Try pulling out the card and clean the contacts. Rebooting the TiVo might also help.

    There's also a tiny contact switch at the back of the socket. You'd have to open the tivo to do anything about that, 'tho.

    I once had a DISH CSR who told me to "get down on your knees and blow into the card slot". I though it sounded a little gay, and that maybe she was just jerking my chain, but it worked :) . Apparently dust and debris can get in there and muck things up.
