What does that leave for soaps, just General Hospital?

It's a shame that networks are so quick to pull the plug and not give shows a chance to develop an audience. :(

Interesting. I never watched soaps but then I worked most of my life. I wonder if this is an age thing. I enjoyed Dark Shadows as a kid but I wonder if I would watch a daytime soap based on Vampires for example? Don't know, don't want to spend the time even though I am now retired.

It's the end of an era.

I haven't watched soaps in years, since I was in college probably, but they were such a mainstay of tv watching for so long, and now they are all just going away one by one. I remember my mom watching AMC from when I was pretty little, although she later switched to the CBS soaps like Guiding Light.

I still tune in to AMC every once in a while to see what is happening. I have been watching for 20 years. I can't really say I'll miss it but this certainly changes the face of daytime TV.

This. The whole reason my mom got a DVR is her soaps. This will probably result in a 60% drop in her tv viewing (General Hospital being most of the rest).

Wow kinda sad. I haven't regularly watched soaps since I graduated college, but my mom and I used to watch a lot of them together until then, including AMC and OLTL. She still watches AMC and GH, and has been watching AMC since the beginning. I still watch them with her when I go visit them... it's kinda nice to jump back into a show 15 years later and most of the people are still the same. ;)

Wow, I didn't think AMC would ever end. I used to work nights when it first came on and my ex decided she wanted to watch it. I sat through the first ep and a few after before I got tired of it. Oddly enough, a few years later, I got a job at the local ABC affiliate where I kinda had to watch it. Several months later, I went to permanent night shift and I hadn't seen it since. A couple weeks ago the TV was on ABC and it came on. I watched about five minutes and sure enough, some of the same people were still there. :)

    End of an era.

I wonder if the shows will end with a cliffhanger.

I haven't watched either in years (still TiVo GH) but this really makes me sad.

Feels like the end of an era. And how much farther behind will GH be?
