2019 Fall Season thread - What shows are you excited about?

The CW seems to agree with you. Lately, they’ve waited to start their season a few weeks after the major networks.

 

The new shows I'm trying, as premiere week arrives...

Sitcoms (because I'll try almost any sitcom)
Bob ❤️ Abishola -- I like Billy Gardell, and it's a Chuck Lorre creation. Doesn't sound great, but I'll keep an open mind.
Perfect Harmony -- Will I make it to the end of the pilot?
The Unicorn -- Walton Goggins. Very high hopes for this one.
Carol's Second Act -- Like Patricia Heaton, but this looks terrible.
Sunnyside -- Not a Kal Penn fan, but the premise sounds interesting.
Almost Family -- Will I make it to the first commercial break?

Dramas
Prodigal Son -- Strong leads, but probably not my cup o' tea.
Emergence -- I have this on a VERY short leash, ABC thankyouverymuch.
Stumptown -- Cobie! Looking forward to this.
Evil -- No idea, but will try it.

 

It has to do with sweeps weeks.

 

This thread has been very helpful, thank you all. Just when I thought I'd gone completely all streaming, I've found some new shows worth trying here.

Which are a silly anachronism, and I suspect not long for this world...

 

I’m the same. The only one I’m really looking forward to is Batwoman but I’m a sucker for the Arrowverse.

 

The one I'm excited about is Stumptown...I'm a big fan of the comics (which seem to have been made-for-television), and the casting is excellent.

 

I like the Bourne movies so I'm hoping Treadstone is good.

 

Yep - looking at these for now

CBS - Thurs 26th - Evil - with Jessi Coulter, from the Kings (The good fight, the good wife)

USA - Sun Oct 6 - Mr. Robot, (final Season)

USA - Tues Oct 15 - Treadstone (as in Jason Bourne)

 

Here's another mid-season premier I'm planning to add. A 10-episodes mini series from the creator of Mr. Robot, on USA this coming January.

 

Nothing on network tv so far has made me want to see a second episode.

 

I know what you mean. I couldn't get past the first episodes of Sunnyside or Mixed-ish. Sunnyside in particular was really bad, and apparently the network agrees because s being exiled to the NBC app.

But, I've enjoyed the Unicorn and Stumptown, and although I rightly expected my wife to like the Unicorn, she surprised me by finding Stumptown fun too. I've found Prodigal Son to be so-so. Batwoman is a disappointment. So it's been a mixed bag.

There's still hope for the mid-season premiers. But it looks like the best one will be on cable, not network TV: Briarpatch.

 

I agree, I have seen some to be hopeful for coming mid-season. But then again, I am always optimistic. Until I see the content being touted.
