Someone told me DN had hair plugs or something. Personally I'm clueless at recognizing these things.

I don't know for sure, but it looked to me like he did have them (hair plugs).

They did start with the National Championship which mirrors what they did last year with 2 other events during the summer.

Also, archives of the final table webcasts are available at wsop.com.

Some of them have some excellent commentary. I'm going to go back and check out a few of those myself. They can be more interesting than the polished ESPN broadcasts if you're really into poker as the broadcasts by necessity leave so much out.

I've been watching the weekly episodes. Just started the 10/12 episodes, but thought I'd dig up this thread and post about previous eps.

Watching/listening to the featured table with Kyle Keranen and the guy from Oregon/Mexico (can't remember his name right now) was painful. I'm glad there was a new cast of characters at the featured table for the 10/12 telecast.

eta: Curtis Rystadt was the name I couldn't remember.

I'm a couple behind, but this guy was annoying as heck. I actually thought he was a *bit* amusing at times, but overall, annoying.

BTW, yes I'm Tivoing the show, but since they _usually_ show up on On Demand WITHOUT commercials, I tend to watch there out of laziness.. Yet strangely only SOME episodes are showing up, and even stranger, different eps are showing up in the HD and non-HD section of ESPN On Demand. Or rather, there were I think 3 or 4 in the non-HD, but only 1 in the HD.

Is there any direct way to complain to Comcast about On Demand, rather than just calling them up (which I suspect would be pointless, so I wouldn't do it, esp since I already Tivoed them anyway).

Just a warning in case you are not caught up - don't read further...

I was SOOO glad to see Kyle Keranen take out Rystadt himself, and in a very nice "payback's a b!tch" fashion!

The guy was annoying the crap out of me when they were at the TV table. Keranen said they were playing at the same table for 10 hours! Not sure I could have kept my cool, but that says something about Keranen's temperament - good on him.

Also a bonus that Rystadt didn't make the money bump, either.

I was not sorry to see Rystadt go out to Keranen. Though the featured table did get a bit boring this week (at least it didn't really hold my attention.)

    Agree 100%

I know it's probably good TV, but I'm a little bothered that they gave Rystadt so much air time and then interviewed him afterward (although I always ff through those). Just tells folks for next year that if you act like an ass, you'll get more TV time and be interviewed.

I agree. That whole Keranen/Rystadt stuff was super annoying.

However, I understand how the producers work. They are trying to tell stories. Of course the ultimate one leads up to the winner, but they also look for subplots. That conflict was just begging to be condensed into the show seeing as they don't really have all that much that is that obvious.

BTW - I have played here in DC with Marcia Kuntz many times. (The DC divorce attorney) She plays in the local All In Enterprises charity tournaments here. I think she mentioned having won part of her buyin for the ME. There is a competition amongst the regulars that play in those tournaments and the top 18 have a playoff to see who will go to the WSOP. All those that qualified had a small piece of her. So I won about $300 from her accomplishment.

Final table started last night. I recorded 10 hours and it still wasn't enough. I guess it went 12 hours. Down to 3 players now. Final is tonight. I setup to record for 14 hours. It will probably end in 14 minutes.

They did the 30 minute delay and it was almost enjoyable. I say almost because Norman Chad should not be doing live TV.

I recorded last night for the original time slot + 3 hours on ESPN2HD, then soon before 1AM, set up a manual recording on ESPN2.. (SD).. I think I set it for like 6 hours.. I checked in the morning, and IIRC, it went almost exactly 3 or 4 more hours.. so to I think 4 or 5 AM..

I may end up doing just like last year -- waiting until the edited down show.. but I'm still recording tonight too..

I'm only like 3 episodes back on the hour long show too! (This year, I realized On Demand has COMMERCIAL FREE episodes.. So I still Tivo the original airings just to make sure, then watch the On Demand version since I don't have to even skip commercials!)

Spoiler for when the Main Event ended:
It ended around 10:15 Pacific time (well, that's when it ended on the air). If you padded the scheduled Tuesday broadcast for 3 hours, you will get the whole thing plus 45 minutes of SportsCenter.

I would love to see a breakdown of Antonio's comments about what a player would do, and what happened.

He seemed to be right like 75% of the time.

When you consider that a blind and deaf man from darkest Africa could get around 65%, it's not that good!

I guess it really is different playing for that kind of money because they were playing hands that I wouldn't even consider worth a continuation!

    and...

What was Van Hoof thinking calling for 17.5 million with a low pair of fives???? It's no wonder he went out in third. The harder question is how did he get so far?

Perhaps the last part is not very fair as luck can play a major part in it, but his play was erratic, IMO.
