Thanks for the reminder! We just got ESPN2HD added to our channel lineup a few days ago. I wonder (hope) this will be in HD!

nuts. I had been wondering that too. thanks for the info.

this is just wrong. ESPN2HD is a separate channel from ESPNHD. ESPN2 is not simalcast on ESPNHD.

I guess they mean to say they either didn't shoot it in HD or didn't produce it in HD. That is rather disappointing. Since this ESPN2 program wont show a single complete performance, I dont think I'm missing out on much anyway.

I'll still watch, of course, but the rules changes are really starting to piss me off. I passed on the movie theater showing this year.

On a related note, just heard Brad Paisley's "Online" on XM this morning. Any fans of Drum/Band corps will likely also like this song.......

Yeah, I wish they'd show at least the entire winning preformance. I mostly watch just to see how they portray the event to those that don't know much about the activity. I don't watch strictly to view the performances as I order the DVD/CD bundle anually (I have every finals performace on CD dated back to 1972 and every finals performance on DVD for 89' and 1999-present).

Last years show on ESPN2 was a good balance of showing what fans want to see, educating people about the activity, and promoting the activity to potential corps participants.

I got over going to 3-valve bugles and the going to Bb bugles from G. However, I don't think I'll ever get over the addition of mic'd vocals. They grate my nerves every time.

Anyone know what "Showtunes" will be performed this year?

And, does anyone know if a Corps has ever done an adaptation of "Wicked"?

WOW, I haven't watched DCI in 15 years! I can't wait to see this, although mention of vocal performances makes me nervous.

For those non-country music fans who haven't seen the video, check it out on YouTube.

Where else can you get George Costanza, Estelle Costanza, and Captain Kirk all in one video?

Wow....15 years? A lot has changed in the activity over 15 years. I think you're in for a treat. The vocals can be annoying if overdone. They are used more for narration than for singing (though some do sing). Luckily, not all corps use voice. Most corps do amplify their pit now too.

While I like the fact that ESPN2 gives Drum Corps more exposure than when it used to broadcast the championships on PBS......I can REALLY do without the sports ticker at the bottom. Grrrrr.........

And some of the highlights they're showing - or rather leaving out.

Yeah, I love seeing DCI get more exposure on an outlet like ESPN2, but the cheesy commentators (and use of the tele-strator!?) I could do without. I liked the history vignettes of each corp, but the dramatic "this is the field of battle" stuff at the beginning was dumb.

I guess they're trying to appeal to a wider audience? Did they think by showing Steve Young they would get more football fans to watch?

Too bad my little brother's former corps (Capital Regiment) was inactive this year.

It's the first week of school and I was trying to watch this while filling out all those stupid papers and forms for school and couldn't pay 100% attention. I just couldn't get into it, but I'll give it another try.
