Anyone else try to transfer an mpeg-4 conversion to the TIVO unit and get NO SOUND??? Same video works just fine on the old 540.

Any thoughts ... any one else experience this issue?

Do you have the Pioneer connected to a audio receiver via an optical cable? The reason I ask is because TiVo Desktop converts the audio in MPEG4 files to MP2 format. If you have the Pioneer connected to an audio receiver via an optical cable then it will simply passes that MP2 audio stream along to the receiver as-is. Some audio receivers can't handle MP2 audio, so you get no sound.

If this is the case here then all you need to do is go into the audio menu of the TiVo and select the option where it always outputs PCM audio. That should fix the problem. Just make sure to turn it back when watching a DVD to get the full surround sound. Alternatively you could also hook the TiVo to the receiver via a pair of standard red & white audio cables, then simply switch the receiver's audio input when watching one of these videos. (some receivers will even switch automatically when the signal on the optical cable is unusable)

    Someone knows their S.....

Almost spot on! The Pioneer 810 lets you select Dolby Digital out ... I just switched her to PCM .... and sound is back.

    Thanks man.
