I did the same thing as Minimeh. Disk passed with no errors with the WD software so I rebuilt using a new HDD I had as spare. My channels were then borked because comcast can't do crap right. After a cable card swap and a call to the national activation line I was up and running fine. No freezes, pixelation, or reboots for about 12 hours now.

Has anybody figured out how to increase the size of the swap partition when upgrading Premiere drive size?

If so, are you having this problem like everybody else?

Hi..could some one pls let me know how to rebuild the original hard drive to the factory settings. I think my HDD software got corrupted after the 14.9.2.2 software upgrade. This is making my Premiere go in to a Reboot welcome > Powering up cycle. I ran the Western Digital Diagnostics on my Hard Drive..no issues there... ...I checked the capacitors too..and there was no issues there as well.Everything seems to be fine from a hardware perspective. Completely lost on how to go back to the original factory settings without a backup...could some one pls help

Same thing happened to my TiVo Premier with 2TB drive. It was working fine on Dec 31st. Turned it on Jan 1 and it was stuck in the reboot cycle: "Starting.." -> "Just a few more minutes..." -> blank screen for about 5 minutes -> all lights on as it reboots -> "Starting..." -> etc.

I tried the kickstart codes but none of them worked. I got the blue light confirmation after entering the 2-digit kickstart code, but the unit just went to the blank screen and continued the reboot cycle.

After reading some other posts in this thread I decided my only option was to rebuild my 2TB drive from the original 320GB drive. Of course doing so meant I would lose almost 250 hours of recorded shows and movies, all my season passes, and my thumbs up/down data. However, there wasn't any other option. There were some posts about backing up the shows, but I didn't want to risk bringing whatever was corrupted over to the rebuilt drive.

After I rebuilt the 2TB drive everything worked and I was able to initiate the SMART hard drive test using the kickstart code. After nearly 18 hours the SMART test completed and reported no hardware issues with the drive. IMO, this has something to do with the new software corrupting something and causing our TiVos to go into the constant reboot cycle.

So nearly 4 days later I finally got my TiVo up and running with the latest system software (again) and season passes last night. What a mess and a pain the butt, but at least I can watch TV again.

That's great to know....the corrupted one is my original drive ....is there somewhere I could get the image downloaded instead of buying a new one...pls let me know...

PS. Just curious...could you tell me what amount of free space did ur TiVo had before thiss issue started to occur....mine was almost 100%...my hunch is that TiVo OS doesn't have enough space on the hard drive to create indexes during start up...I shall try deleting some files connecting hard drive to my PC...just a hunch

I purposely maxed out my Elite drive at 100% for a few days and I had no issues.

I'm pretty sure my drive was almost 100% as well. However, it looks like aaronwt tested this hunch and he didn't have any problems with a full drive.

Since we're throwing out hunches, I noticed before the crash that the unit seems to reboot more if I had it on the SD TiVo menus. I'm assuming the TiVo rebooted because when I pressed the TiVo button I saw the intro video. When I used the super slow HD menus I don't remember seeing as many reboots.

I wonder how many of us experiencing problems are using the HD menus and how many are using the SD menus.

FWIW, my reboots and other crash problems seem to have gone away (knock on wood). I'm not sure if a new update was pushed or what, but either way, it's not the mess that it was before.

I'm pretty sure it's still true that the only image for a Premiere is a drive out of another Premiere.

You can probably pick up a used or refurb Premiere for $50 somewhere if you search.

Then you can keep it as a parts source.

My Premiere rebooted twice this evening during TV viewing. I checked Settings and it's running 14.9.2.2. I've had some strangely truncated recordings, so maybe I've been having spontaneous reboots for awhile, and am only now getting them during interactive viewing.

I have a 1.5 TB clone drive and it was rebooting every 5 minutes after 14.9.2. I put in the original drive and it updated and had no problems. So after checking the 1.5 clone drive with WD diagnostic and verifying it was good I rebuilt it from the original drive. But when I put it back in it would reboot periodically like every other day. So I had a XL HD unit with a M Card and I just switched cards and problem solved. The cloned drive is now updated with 20.2 and no problems for about a week and a half. I plan to get the cable company to give me a new M Card I have been watching the XL HD machine to see if it's rebooting but I haven't noticed anything yet.
I probably could've just switched out cards without rebuilding the 1.5 TB drive, but you live and you learn. I am lucky to have the other machine to switch the cards.

And of course you ran wdidle3 on it to disable Intellipark, but did you do any other firmware changes?

Glad to find this thread. My premiere also just started rebooting repeatable. It's a stock XL.

Here's the odd thing on mine. It *only* reboots when it's not playing back something. I can have it play my HD Recordings folder (~100 hours worth), and it will play through the entire folder (or me watching something else actively), with no reboots. As soon as I quit playing stuff, within an hour it reboots again.
