You have 2 different SDV hardware platforms depending on what your cable company uses (Motorola or Cisco/Scientific Atlanta) so very unlikely they would/could support both internally (and it's possible there could be some proprietary component that would have to be licensed from each vendor).

I had a similar thing happen on my Roamio OTA on 2/7. Two shows (The Blacklist and The X-Files) both recorded at 8:00pm but were both missing the first 20 minutes of the program. I wrote it off as a one-off and it's not repeated nor had it happen before. Odd.

I had no idea that it was set up like this. But the cable card is still universal across either of the two sdv setups?

No, you also have Motorola and Cisco/Scientific Motorola CableCards that are unique to the installed type of cable system. With both TA's and CableCards, the interface/communication with the device they are connected to/installed in is the same so the device can use them but the cable communication side is unique to each.

I've seen post here where some have said to make sure they bring out "X Type" card as they're less problematic. I was under the impression that both types of card was in use in a providers cable system and they would just pair it as they both used the same protocols.

Now what I'm to understand is if the headend is "X Type" your CableCARD and TA are that type too.

    Thanks for the clarification
