    I hate those. VH1 had one for an upcoming series once that actually covered up 1/3rd of the screen! That one and the ones for one of those cable...

    Press Thumbs Up to Record on TV Screen

    If you hit the :up: it will record on to the TiVo and NOT the Dish Network box. But as scandia said, it doesn't know whether it's being recorded...

    specifically, why do the 'other' DVRs come up short compared to TiVo?

    My UVerse DVR automatically backsteps a little bit, but the fact that it's soooo slow to receive commands means I still have to press the 7seconds...
