    don't think it has to do with how full a HD is because I had a 60+120gb hard drives and only 6 shows at medium quality recorded.

    Interesting - I had this same kazoo problem. I have a TIVO series 2 60 hour, added additional 120gb. About 1 week ago my tivo crashed...
