I have a digital cable box (Motorola/Adelphia Cable), a Series 2 Tivo and want to add a DVD Player/burner to the system but not sure how to do all the connections. What should input into the burner and from where? Any help out there? Thanks for yor time -
Well, it'd help if we know what you're looking to do.
Do you want to be able to record directly from the cable box to DVD, or would you prefer to feed the cable to the TiVo, record to hard drive, and then make any DVDs off the TiVo later?
I'd like to do both, actually. If I needed to choose, I would want to record programs that are on the Tivo onto a DVD. Sorry for the lack of specificity.
This looks a few weeks old, but I am going to do a similar thing in the next few weeks and was looking if hooking an external burnable DVD was similar to a vcr set up. If you want to be able to play on the tv and burn from the DVR you should be able to do a line in to the DVD burner and then have the s video out to the TV. Or something like like.
1. Cable box out to TiVo via AV (only has one AV output).
2. Cable box out to DVD/VCR via RF
3. TiVo out to TV via AV1/s-vid out, out to DVD/VCR via AV2 out. RF out to TV because why not?
4. DVD/VCR out to TV via AV/s-vid.
Of course, then there's my living room setup w/HD monitor & surround receiver
