Understood. I went the mini + slingbox route for that very reason.
Is slingbox out of the question? It's a very simple, not too expensive solution that is plug-n-play. Unless you're just dead set on getting VPN...
Sling (I have a 350 and an M1) both work more reliably for me OOH than streaming directly from a Roamio. I pretty much always stream to my tablet...
By default Charter in NE Georgia does not use the TA pass-thru connection, but uses an external splitter.
