Why would Cochran go through the motions of tying the votes the first time if he was gonna flip?

Cochran had to flip. His original group had it in for him and the other group would have gone after him, too, if he hadn't gone with them. He really had no choice.

As much as I don't like Brandon, I liked it when he told Jim, "Don't talk to him like that" and suggested that it was that sort of thing that caused Cochran to flip. Because it was true.

Whether you like Coach or not, I think he deserves a lot of credit for building a much more solid alliance than Ozzy did. Coach had a solid 5 person alliance, and the 6th person (the Oriental gal), he reached out to and said he had her back. So all 6 felt comfortable.

Ozzy, on the other hand, only developed a 4 person alliance, with 2 people feeling ostracized. It's no wonder Cochrane flipped, although I think he's a cockroach for divulging the idol plan to the other team.

So Ozzy has no one to blame but himself. I think he was only thinking of the intra-tribe play, not the overall play. As others pointed out last week, they would have been much better off if Cochrane was voted out last week and lost to Christine. She hated Coach and I think with her the 6 people would have stood together.

And Ozzy played the idol because?

The other tribe said they knew the plan and Ozzy confirmed. So why would he believe information given to Cochran (vote out Whitney) was accurate?

Ozzy needs to win every challenge because at the first opportunity he's a gonna. And he did this for a tribe who has already stabbed him in the back. He might be the best ever challenge machine, but Ozzie's not a very good player.

iirc, they said they knew the plan was to play the idol (to protect another of your team from the purple rock) ... not that they knew who it was going to played on. Ozzy expected them to play theirs too (assuming he assumes they have one).

I was happy to see Cochran flip, and it was nice to see psycho Brandon defending him.

Would have been nice for Cochran to say, 'I flipped because you guys are dicks. Why would I stay loyal to people who always talk down to me?' The way Keith was talking to him at the beginning of the episode, implying that Ozzie was some hero for taking the fall in place of Cochran, who should be fighting his own battles at Redemption (uh, his battles? You are the one sending him to Redemption, Keith. It's not his battle until you vote for him).

I believe it's because on the first vote they couldn't be sure there wouldn't be a wild card (some third name) thrown in. With the second round it was down to two names only.
That's how I took it as well. Cochran wanted to be sure HE wasn't being played somehow and waited until he was sure it was down to two and then flipped.

I don't think you should EVER give up the idol.

Coach is playing a good game. It will be interesting to see how it plays out when his gang of 6 has to start turning on themselves. Although I have a feeling they won't stay together that long.

Yup, that's what I thought last season too. It's an interesting idea IF it ends at the merge. But now they will be letting another person back in the game way too late.

What a great episode.

I didn't get why Cochrane flipped, but after reading here it makes sense. And waiting till the second vote. Good job. It may not make life at camp easy for him but it will get him further down the road in the game. They can get rid of Jim, Whitney, and the others before he goes. Of course, he has to know that he will be the first to go once those guys are whittled out, but hey it means a few more days in the game.

Dawn pissed me off a bit. First she was all with him and then she was all for the tribe. What a great move if both of them had flipped.

Brandon's comments were a chuckle at the end.

It's always tough when you are the last person in an alliance. You can flip (as Cochrane did) but then you become last person in the other alliance. But it's all about surviving a few extra days. As the numbers get smaller it gets easier to get others to flip.

I think is not correct. At this point you could say he is 7th out of 7. But what a great place to be, because at some point Coach's tribe will have to turn on each other, and they very well will turn to Cochran to give them numbers. Maybe Albert-Sophie-Rick add Cochran to dump Brandon? Etc...

I thought it was great how the Ozzie plan worked so well and then collapsed at the end thanks to Cochran. Although the other tribe didn't buy the story that Cochran had played an idol to send Ozzie to redemption. So maybe it didn't work so well even from the beginning.

Yeah, maybe this. Brandon is better at challenges. It will be interesting to see the twists and turns now.

But we have seen in the past the tribe with the smaller numbers all get voted out first - one by one - after the merge.

We obviously only see a small fraction of camp time but I find it hilarious that they could treat Cochrane like crap and then act all surprised and shocked when he flips on them. The "coward" comment was especially funny. I give Cochrane credit, he has no physical skills and no social skills and yet he's still going.

Does he really imagine that he could win? Yes, he might get far---perhaps all the way to the final vote. But why would anyone vote for him? (Though I guess they could vote against someone else...)
I think Cochran is screwed either way at the end. If he had stayed with Ozzy and gang and managed to make it to the end, would he have ever gotten Keith or Whitney's vote anyway? Or Ozzie or Jim? They showed so little respect for him, would they ever say, 'Oh yeah, he's a winner!'

Now at least he can get to the end with an Upolo and hope that person has pissed off his tribemates enough to vote for another player.

Who knows really?

Ummn Sandra won twice and she wasnt all that likable.

Cochrane did fine. He voted along team lines, which was smart in case Ozzy flipped the idol to the person that was recieveing all the votes. They had 4 people elgible for votes. Obviously Cochrane would be the one voted out. So thats a 30% chance that Ozzy could give the idol to the right person. He told Cochrane Whitney, but that didnt mean he couldnt change people at tribal.

I think from how he started Cochrane has done ok. Hes still alive. With Coaches group, he wont be treated like crap all the time. Hes still a wild card in that group so he may quite easily be picked for a "final 3" deal or 2.

I really liked how Brandon stood up for Cochran both right after the vote and then told him to stay by him for the rest of the night. I know Brandon has meant well all season, but he had been looking crazy. This was a nice shot of him to show he really does mean well.

The comment is actually pretty stupid. The cowardly thing to do would have been to NOT flip. Flipping, knowing he is gonna piss off his old tribe, is the opposite of cowardly ... imo.
