OK, so just before he announces, Trump says, "I'm going to do something different here", then he announces that John Rich is hired.

So what was different??? I was expecting him to name one of them the winner, but give both their charities $250K, or give the runner-up's charity $100K or something like that. Nothing. So what was different?

I was a little disappointed that Marlee (whom I LOVE!) got upset and kept hammering on the money that came in. No, it was not a fundraising task, so that didn't enter into it. And until John said something about having this platform, etc., I didn't even think he solicited those donations, did he? After his comment, I suppose maybe he did. But it was a bit disappointing that Marlee seemed like she felt she needed to defend herself on that point.

So it was Dionne, Jose and Richard that didn't make the finale, right? No big loss on any count. Hey Star, STFU - and playing the race card??? STFU twice!

I said I wasn't going to watch again but after the cast list was announced they sucked me in. There were several people in here that I recognized. And it ended up being a very entertaining season.

Dancing with the Stars this season though I would have watched except that there was like only 2 "stars" I even knew about so I passed on it.
Too bad. You've missed a really good season on DWTS.

Probably a matter of (1) the band makes an entrance together and (2) the band doesn't want people messing with their equipment.

I didn't see a problem with it, and when the band declined, John did something else, so I don't think he had a problem with it, either.

I still don't understand what the problem was with having the drummer use the bass drum on the intro.
Def Leppard is all of them- they are introduced as a group, enter as a group, play as a group, and leave as a group. This is in their contract- why they insist on doing it this way may not make sense to you, but clearly they want to engender a feeling of solidarity and most especially towards the one member that the world told them to walk away from and replace. They chose instead to wait for him and they choose to stand together always.
No one is going to sneak onstage to do a little side job for JR and no one else is going to be allowed near that drum kit given that it is likely customized more than any other drum kit in existence.

I think that maybe some people don't know the history, and that the drummer only has one arm. He's pretty iconic when it comes to Def Leopard, he may be better known then any other member of the band. It has a lot to do with their success with Hysteria.

I knew about the drummer's arm but not the whole solidarity thing and I didn't think they did a good job of explaining that, hence my original question. Just bad editing I guess.

btw...I really enjoyed this last task compared to some of the other final tasks! I like that it included different elements within the task and they seemed to have (mostly) adequate time.

I'm not a big fan of the throw a big dinner events they've been doing for the finales.

In the regular Apprentice (which unfortunately doesn't get as good ratings), the focus isn't on fundraising/charity. It's just about doing a good job on the tasks.

I like the regular version better because too often, the celebrity version boils down to "who knows people with deeper pockets?"

That's what it boils down to. Isn't that why Richard Hatch got fired so early...because he DIDN'T have rich friends to throw money around? If not Richard, then someone else. I might be thinking someone else. But honestly, if that's the idea, then why ask these people on the show to begin with?

I think it helps and is certainly a factor, but it isn't a requirement. Lil Jon didn't raise much money throughout the show and he went pretty far. In all fairness he did raise some money (I think a couple of $5-10k donations) and Richard only had a couple of thousand in the very first task from a couple of Survivor people.

I kind of wish they'd get away from the "call your donors and get money" but I understand it looks good for the show that "it" raises so much money for charity.

The did get away from it a bit this year .. There seemed to be the one really, really big donor event in the middle, but otherwise there were a lot of $20K from Donald(/show) and $20K from task sponsor. Was nice of Donald to toss in the extra $$$ to get Marlee up to $1Mil, but that "donation" will allow CA to use the 7-digit number as a marketing tool in the future. It was good money to spend regardless of the charity and good additional money for the charity itself.

And I don't think for a minute that JR's last task donors just showed up spontaneously. He set that up purely so he could also use the "One Million Dollars Raised" keywords in his bid for the win.

Worked.

Oh I absolutely agree with you. He really wanted to match Marley's "1 mill" raised mark!

I think he also had the donors in his back pocket just incase the last task did require some fund raising.

JR admitted that in a post season interview, he had Dollar General (the unnamed ones who gave the 250K) lined up but they couldn't get it for earlier fundraiser so he held it back until the end just in case it was a fundraiser. Found it very interesting they went unnamed while Melting Pot was identified for $25K. My theory is JR got the people/corps that usually donate to St. Jude every year to run their donations this year through him once he got on the show. JR got a good edit.

What do you mean "good edit"? how could you edit that any differently? ;)
