MASH on MeTV OnePass suddenly not working

Hey all,

I get TV through Comcast if it makes a difference.

Up till a month or so ago my OnePass for MASH (1972-83) was working dependably, and then it just stopped recording episodes. My aging mother (almost 84, with memory problems) lives with me now and is a huge fan, but having to explicitly tell the TiVo Premiere to record every dang episode is for the birds.

I think somehow Comcast has stopped passing on info about this particular show to TiVo or something. The Andy Griffith Show which follows keeps recording like clockwork, so it's not every show on the network or anything.

I even cancelled the OnePass, then created a new one, still no joy.

Would rebooting the Tivo help? And is the only way to do that to pull the power or is there a gentler way?

I had this problem before for "The Love Boat". It would only onepass auto-record 1 in 5 shows or so even though I had the settings set to record everything and didn't have any recording conflicts. I never could get the onepass working. Eventually I created a keyword wishlist to record the show with the options set to record everything and that worked.

OK, I changed it to Everything, and it still didn't work tonight (Sunday April 4th). The only reason I can think of is that maybe the "keep at most x episodes" thing was set at 10 and there were already more than that undeleted from before, so perhaps the software didn't know what to do. So I deleted all but a couple of episodes, then deleted and set up the season pass again with it set to Recordings only and Everything, max episodes 10. We'll see.

How do you check recording history, apart from seeing what's recorded in "My shows"?

I ask because it did it again. Just flat out failed to record, even though yesterday it showed the two episodes set to record with a double check mark in the To do list. It's as if elves were coming during the night and clearing those specific recordings just for one day (tomorrow's episodes are still supposedly set to record). I also looked for conflicts, and there were none. The episodes had Guide data too--name of episode, season, plot teaser etc.). So I'm at a loss. Maybe the Wishlist another poster mentioned is the way to go about it. Maybe my unit is failing somehow. Is it because I've got it set for "Recordings only" maybe?

If someone could see if their TiVo could actually record episodes of MASH from a OnePass on MeTV (Comcast HD channel 1170 IIRC), even just for one night, at least we'd know it's not that the episodes have some critical metadata from Comcast missing, which makes the TiVo ignore them.

I hate to indulge in a conspiracy theory, but maybe TiVo has programmed something in where older units on Lifetime service "accidentally" start acting strangely like this.

If you check the TiVo history, it will tell you why it didn't record a program. If you have a OnePass for MASH set to Record Everything and it isn't recording certain episodes, mostly like the comment in the history will say something like "Not recorded: episode recorded in past 28 days". I've had this happen with syndicated shows in the past. The TiVo doesn't record the episode because it recently (within 28 days) recorded it.

You can also view the "Upcoming episodes" in the OnePass view for the series.

Well, the good news is that FINALLY the dang thing recorded a couple of episodes on its own, and tonight it appears to be working as well. As a precaution I went ahead and deleted any existing recordings of MASH, and perma-deleted them from the Recently Deleted folder.

I checked the history for the reason why it didn't record the last couple of episodes and in one instance it said it didn't record because "space needed" which makes no sense because My Shows (apart from TiVo Suggestions I suppose) were only occupying around 80% of the storage at the time. The TiVo was nowhere near full.

Anyway, a big thank you to everyone for the replies and the help. I felt like I was taking crazy pills there for a while.
