'Legends' - Drama starring Sean Bean (GoT)

Quote:
Based on the award-winning book by master spy novelist Robert Littell, Legends stars Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings) as Martin Odum, a FBI agent with the ability to transform himself into a different person for each job.
Quote:
But his own identity comes into question when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn't who he thinks he is.
Looking forward to seeing 'Ned' again.

The first episode will air on TNT August 13. The first episode can be watched on the TNT website now.

It's also available via magical means.

Looks interesting, thanks for posting. Also has Ali Larter and Tina Majorino, both of whom I love!

I would never say Sean Bean (GOT). Don't know why but that struck me as odd, he's been in so many other things

I'm a couple seasons behind, does this mean that they cut down his role on Game of Thrones?

Spoiler:

I've read one or two of Littel's books, though not Legends specifically.

(time to hit the used book stores)

If TNT does as good a job adapting his stuff as they did with Baldacci's King and Maxwell series, it should be a good show.

Which probably means they'll cancel it just when it's really getting good, like they did with K&M.

Sounds like a supernatural variation on "The Pretender".

I've just watched the pilot episode and there's nothing supernatural about it!

Good to know. I had incorrectly interpreted "transform" as something supernatural (probably because of the "Legends" title).

He just slips in and out of his undercover persona which does go easy for him, which you can call transform as well.

The title Legends is named after how they call all the little backstory details of an undercover agent, a legend.

It's not necessarily supernatural, but there seems to be a science fiction element that partially emerges by the end...
Spoiler:
He seems to have been transformed into his "base" personality from some forgotten original personality by a shadowy (government?) organization.

Sounding more and more like "The Pretender". Any of the characters named Sydney?

I watched the first episode. I didn't see anything special about the show. I'll probably watch one or two more episodes, but I doubt I'll still be around for season 2.

I thought it was really good. Sean Bean is such a good actor--slipping from one identity to the other. Add a few more and he'll be up there with Tatiana.

I can just see Sean Bean in drag doing Orphan Black on SNL...

And now I have to find, somehow, a way to scrape that image from my brain...

Was actually a good series, The Accused, every episode was standalone.

Just goes to show you that YMMV.

I watched it and was bored to death. I know Hollywood is so much more comfortable with the clichéd right wing paramilitary group as terrorists, but it seemed so trite.

And Tina Majorino's comment to explain away Sean Bean's accent was right out of a Van Damme movie.

I'm glad others liked it, but I won't be back.

I also found it quite boring and unimaginative but since it's summer and I have tons of HDD space I'll keep the SP for now.

I put the season pass in and then I watched it. It seemed so formulaic with the nerd girl even the pacing. I wanted to like it but I just can't. At least on Covert Affairs the acting, pacing, and production quality is top notch even if story gets wonky at times.

To be fair I should probably watch it past the pilot but I just don't have the energy and there is so much else on.

I just binged watch Orange is the New Black and the character development they pack into an hour just raises my standards too much.

I am out.

Now play nice!

I put in a season pass on general principals, but we did watch it last night to check it out.
The music is miserable, the writing atrocious, and the "Ali Larter as lap Dancer" sequence was very smirkable ...
I dunno - looks abysmal to us ... then again, we are still recording/watching EXTANT with Halle Berry,
tho there is plenty of groan time in that one as well!

Maybe Tyrant is the only summer fill worth watching ...

Orange is the New Black has character development? I didn't notice.

Legends was entertaining enough, even despite how incredibly derivative and TNT-esque it is. I liked the hashtag and the fact that they are playing up the Sean Bean aspect of the show.

You must not have watched the credits: it's produced by Howard Gordon, he of 24 and Homeland. Seeing his name in the credits sets the expectation immediately, and actually made me happy.

I really liked it. TNT is REALLY pushing the "Sean Bean always dies" meme. They were even saying in the promos during commercial breaks, "In everything else, he dies, but in Legends, he lives", and the hashtag, #SeanBeanLives, or something like that.

Watched it OnDemand and liked the spliced in Hyundai-sponsored short, "The Genesis", better. I wish they'd make a series out of that.

The end of the pilot was good enough that I'll continue to watch at least until more interesting things are on in the Fall. It is a show that I can multitask while watching.

Michael Kelly and Zeljko Ivanek do look a little a like but either imdb got them mixed up in the credits (Founding Father) or I'm confused.

And the smoke detector "camera" was so predictable. Can't believe she fell for that.

Yeah, I watched it On Demand too, before it aired normally.. and they didn't even turn off FF..

I thought it was kind of 'meh', but will probably watch an ep or two more before canning it.

I didn't go past the first episode. My DVR recorded the second episode and I ended up just deleting it.
