Blue Bloods Season 5

I didn't watch the show at all last season, and couldn't find any threads for season 4. So thought I'd start the dreaded season thread! As always, if anyone wants to start episode threads, please do so and we can abandon the season thread.

As I said, I didn't watch any of season 4. Doesn't look like much has changed. Kids are a little older. I do wonder, what happened to Danny's partner Jackie?

Wow, you have missed a lot!

The actress playing Jackie C came down with some illness/disease. CBS played hardball and fired her, and tried out a couple of replacements. The one he has now seems to be a keeper. They had a couple that didn't last two eps!

Nothing ever really changes on this show. Even down to Tom Selleck's "Not in my town!".

Still fun to watch....

After they wrapped up the story about the oldest brother it seemed like the show turned in the the case of the week thing (NTTIAWWT). It is nice to still see the family dinners every week!

I'm sorry Jackie is gone. I really liked the actress. The new partner seems ok, but I liked Jackie better.

Jackie turned in her badge, got a Medical degree, and now is the M.E. on "Taxi Brooklyn"

This is one of the outstanding, solid shows on TV these days. We never miss it. WGN has been running a BB marathon; we had missed the first two seasons, but are now catching up thanks to that...

I wish Frank Regan really was the NYPD commissioner.

Why does watching BB always make me want to drink whiskey?

But who has the self-control to drink 'one finger' in a big glass? I'd fill the thing!

Jennifer Esposito suffers from Celiac Disease and was having trouble with the shooting schedule.
CBS decided to cut their losses and may not have gone about it in the best way.

Sad story but one can't expect them to schedule production around her unpredictable availability.

Except that according to the article I posted, that wasn't what really made Esposito upset.
It was that they suspended her without pay, rather than releasing her from contract.

Quote:

"Look, they have a job that they need done. I get it," Esposito says during the interview. "You don't think I can do it in the two or three days that I am offering in that…work space of eight days? Then I get it, you have to replace me. But that's not what happened. What happened was ugliness."

The actress says CBS' suspension terms prevent her from seeking employment on another network TV show, but she is free to pursue film or stage work and appear on a cable series that doesn't air in the same time slot as Blue Bloods.

Burning Bridges 10/10/2014

Loved the opening scene. "I'll have 2 fingers of bourbon over 1 cube of ice" and "I'll have what she's having".

The press conference was interesting. Loved the cut to Garrett when Frank was talking and said that the church was behind the times. Yep, you knew that was going to be a problem.

I was really looking forward to the Sunday dinner scene and it did not disappoint! I loved the discussion of the evolution of words.

I was wondering what the derivation of the word gay for homosexuals is? I was around when they started using it, but I don't remember why or who started it.

Stereotype much?

If I ran a whiskey company, I'd find ways to keep this show on the air. Best advt ever for $0 and cleverly getting around those broadcast restrictions.
