Master Chef Junior - SPOILERS

Anyone watching this? Frankly I rally don't care for Gordon Ramsey in his other shows as he is often quite mean and loves to use the F-bomb. I'm sure that's mostly an act but still I never liked those shows.

But I thought I would give this show a shot because how mean could he be to young kids? And I thought it was real fun watching it!! Yeah, he was a little mean near the end, but the kids were so endearing. And they were so TALANTED it was amazing. They were cooking meals using techniques I never heard of before. There were two girls about 8 or 9: Abby and Oona. They were fantastic. When they were eliminated they were crying and I actually teared up myself!! Abby got all the way to the semi-final and was then eliminated. She was crying quite a bit, but I think not so much for just being eliminated but for being able to go through the competition almost to the end. It was very touching.

The season finale had all the contestants and the finalists' families. Again very touching. And I was pleasantly surprised at who won.

Anyway a real fun show to watch!!

Gerry

Yep. Love it - and kinda surprised no-one started a thread about it!

Glad that Logan beat out Samuel in the end. He had a much better personality.

New season starts the first week in January.

My 9-year-old nephew loves to watch with me. He loves to cook with me too but he's nowhere near their level.

I watch masterchef, but not the junior edition. As with chopped when they bring in the kids, it's always the same gush fest about how amazing the kids are. I don't disagree about most if not all being amazing for their age, but it got old for me fast. If my kids decided to watch, I'm sure I'd feel differently.

Two things:

1) They revealed the winner during the second-to-last shows previews for the finale. If you look carefully you can see Samuel being consoled.

2) Logan's fish had the salt crust broken, but every time they cut to the "close up" shot of his dish, the crust was not broken and more brown. They must make a second version of the dish later for those B-roll takes.

I hope the 2nd place finish gives Samuel some humility. He seemed way too arrogant!

My 5yo loved watching with me. His pick was Logan; mine was Samuel.

I think considering her age, Abbie was amazing!

...and yes, Samuel needed to learn some humility. I was rooting for anyone BUT him, so Logan was my choice, but any of the others would have worked instead.

Ugh! I didn't like Logan so I was rooting for Samuel. The way they (of course) edited it, it really looked like Samuel had an edge. I should have known.

Anyway, Samuel was very gracious so he still gets all the points from me.

A friend of a friend is Oona's aunt and said that Samuel was a total sweetheart to her throughout filming.

Maybe they (the producers) make the kid look like a jerk on TV because everyone likes a villain.

I never thought he was a jerk or a villain. He's an exceptionally good cook at a very young age and was just very bold and confident about his talents.

I think that was it for me. Samuel lacked the humility of the other cooks and for me it didn't make him appear as likeable.

I think he came off as cocky. His comment about the ingredients being too pedestrian irked me.

I think you are reading too much into that. I think he was just being funny and bantering back with the judges.

That could be. At least he was a gracious runner up.

And he pretty much knew he had lost after they tasted everything (you can see the redness and tears in his eyes).

I know we went a while between season one and season two, but boy are they putting the seasons close together. Season three of master chef Junior starts in early January.
