Is Arrow worth watching?

I am a big fan of the Flash, and since the new TV show is coming up (with crossovers to Arrow), I'm wondering if it's worth it to watch Arrow first.

Personally, I don't like superhero shows/movie about superheros who don't have powers, so I was never interested in Arrow much. But if it's a good show, I'll give it a shot.

I really like it. It's better than Smallville was.

I certainly enjoy the show. It's not exactly high drama, but it's good. That said, if you're just watching it because Arrow will show up in Flash from time to time, I don't think it's necessary.

One of the better shows around lately imho. It seems I prefer tech empowered superheroes though myself. (e.g. Ironman)

If for no other reason watch it for Felicity (whom also has a significant part in Barry Allen's introduction in the series)

I really like the show.

I recently heard/read that some character is coming to the show next year that has super powers. Don't remember who it was. The theory is that next season, Arrow will have more characters with actual super powers. Especially since The Flash is starting next year and it is in the same universe.

Arrow is fun entertainment, but don't expect any Emmy nominations for acting. It is definitely light years beyond Smallville in so many ways.

I like Arrow a lot. It's especially good if you are a comic nerd: lots of easter eggs in it.

The casting for the Flash has already announced at least 2 additional super powered characters (or at least their alter egos). So one must presume that doing CGI for super powers isn't as hard/expensive as it once was and we will likely get more.

I started watching season 1. I got bored after a few weeks (watching but being distracted by ANYTHING) so I gave up. Then I heard it got good toward the end of the season. I jumped back in and have enjoyed it since.

The change for me was when it became more the story of Green Arrow and less the list of people for him to take care of for his city.

I'm enjoying it a lot too.

It's leaps and bounds ahead of Smallville and they've had some good storylines as well.

I forgot about that list of people.

I like it. It's actually one of the shows I kept _relatively_ up on. i.e. only watched the last ep of the season a few weeks after the season was over.. heh.. Though I think I _started_ way through the season.

I'm not a huge fan of Arrow. I don't hate it, but don't find it a compelling show by any means.

Looking forward to "The Flash" though.

For some reason I started watching this the other night, and now I'm halfway through season one. I'm enjoying it overall. It's hardly a great show, and binge-watching it this way does no favors to the fairly florid dialog and some of the acting. But it is entertaining, and it's paced and staged well. I think it's actually a better hero show (at least through what I've watched) than Agents of SHIELD was in the entirety of its first season. It certainly has a much better understanding of what it is, and what it does well, than SHIELD did. I'm certainly going to finish season one and I see no reason so far I won't get through season two and then start watching the new episodes this fall as well.

Nits (no spoilers):

1. I disliked the best friend character right from the start and have continued to have no use for him through the first 10 or so episodes. However I see how he could become more interesting given what the show has revealed so far about other people. (I have no knowledge of the comic book to know whether any of this is preordained.)

2. There's a backstory/flashback structure which hopefully will get more interesting in the second half of season one. Pretty tired of it by the halfway point.

3. I do like the Felicity character, even if I hate the "technical person who can do/hack/discover anything with just a few keystrokes" archetype. To this point in season one, I remain unclear why Oliver can make arrows equipped with circuitry to wirelessly hack a target's bank account and transfer all the funds out, but can't do basic Google searches, for which he needs Felicity's help.

Just finished season 1. I quite enjoyed it overall. I'm looking forward to whenever season 2 hits Netflix, presumably before season 3 premieres this fall. A few more general comments -- none of which are spoilery, but I'll hide them just in case:

Spoiler:
  • Hoping we hear the word "father" much less in season 2. Half of every episode, it seemed, had the characters talking about their fathers or each others fathers. And always with the word "father". Why does no one in Starling City use the word "dad"?
  • I liked the commitment to action and practical stunts. The show probably has a fraction of the budget of Agents of SHIELD, but was consistently more exciting and action-packed than that show was.
  • The actor playing Roy is way too much of an Abercrombie model type to pull of that character. Total failure. That's the downside of being a CW show. Hopefully he does better in the next season.
  • Some of the relationship stuff was very high-schooly and also smacked of CW demographic requirement.
  • Thought it was hilarious how cell phones mostly were only used to unrealistically instantly send data to someone else. When people wanted to talk, they always got in car and went to the other person's house, office, etc.
  • Why are all the Starling City offices so dark, and why are there so many meetings going on in them at night?
