True Blood S07E01 "Jesus Gonna Be Here" ** SPOILERS **

I thought this was a decent start to the season, disappointed in the lack of Eric though.

It seems like no one in Bon Temps wears underwear

I'm not buying it. This has all the cadences of a bait and switch.

And it's not like interviews haven't been used for misinformation before.

I think the showrunners are deliberately effing with all the people who would be cheering for Tara to bite it.

I wasn't buying it either, because I saw some pre-season thing (typical hype) where Rutina Wesley was going on about the whole season. Why would they kill her off before the opening credits, and not show it happen onscreen? That's just a strange shocker.

I still don't buy it. Eric's "dead", too.

Not to mention, we found out she was dead from the most insane human being in the show, and to be the most insane human being on THIS SHOW is saying a lot.

And the name "Rutina Wesley" appeared in it's normal place the opening credits, as opposed to where the name of someone making a special appearance to just die would show up. If she shows up in next week's credits, we'll definitely know something is up.

SAG union rules are very specific about credits and payscales. You can't make exceptions to it for dramatic effect. No way the producers are going to pay her series regular pay for a season she spends 5 minutes performing in.

I will watch the last season, but man, I really don't give a flip about any of these characters. Sookie has shown that she can zap any of them, yet they continue to have her play the victim. Bill and Eric were basically super vampires that are older than all the Hep-V vampires, but they are weaklings again. Hell, they've shown where Bill and Eric can kill 5 people in one second, but all of a sudden the new vamps are nigh impossible to kill.

Does Bill still have god-like powers?

I might be one of the few who liked Tara. I only started watching about three seasons ago though. Sookie can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned.

My wife made an observation that I didn't think of...if something had truley happened to Tara, you'd think we would have seen a reaction from her Maker, Pam.

I want to say that Pam released Tara before she went off on her quest, but it's entirely possible (likely, even) that I'm misremembering.

That could be correct, but I'd assume they are still "connected".

I imagine that a proper "releasing" isn't just conceptual, but has actual metaphysical consequences (just like saying "I rescind my invitation" somehow makes a vamp get launched out the front door).

Yeah, I suspect the magical connection is binary...either it's on or off.

This show has never done a good job of explaing the "rules" but I guess I assumed that "releasing" somebody just meant they don't have to do what you say but that physical connection between a maker would always be there.

I vaguely recall seeing one instance where a maker appeared to actually compel (rather than merely command obedience) an action by his progeny with the "as your maker I command you" command.

I assume that Pam is looking for Eric, so why doesn't she just sense where he is? Is that because he set her free? Or isn't that who she's looking for.

I think that unless summoned, the sensing thing works in just the one direction, maker senses progeny.

And also he released her.

True Blood S07E01 "Jesus Gonna Be Here" ** SPOILERS **

Have we been told why the Hep V zombies don't die in 48 hours like Eric's sister did? And have we been told the reason for "every vampire needs a human and every human a vampire?" For the life of me I can't remember.

I think the writers have abandoned any attempt to make things consistent.

But the "every" sound bite is just that. It is meant to suggest that Hep-V-negative- vampires and humans can help each other. Don't take it literally.

Do we know they don't still die fast? This episode picked up zero hours since last season's finalé, when a whole lot of vampires were infected by the tainted True Blood...

The logic is the vampire can protect the human from the Hep-Vs, and the human can provide the vampire with a safe source of blood.

IIRC this ep, and the end of the finale, take place months after the death of Eric's sister and the bulk of the previous season. Wasn't the True Blood tainted months ago?

Eric's sister didn't turn into a zombie. She just got sick and died.

I don't know what the deal with the hep-V is; maybe it mutated?

The "every vampire needs a human and every human a vampire" thing was a plan devised by Mayor Sam Merlotte and Bill. The marauding hep-v vamps are a problem all over the world, and resources to help people are limited. Small towns like Bon Temps have been left to fend for themselves. The plan Sam and Bill came up with was to find all the hepV-negative humans (that was the blood screenings people went through at the end of last season) and assign each of them a hepV-negative vampire so they would have a symbiotic relationship: the human would provide a clean blood supply to the vamp, and the vamp would provide protection to the human from the marauding hep-v vamps.

I think the Hep-V vamps still die because the guy that showed up to the girls house said that he was going to die anyways and had the veigny look.
