Orphan Black 6/7/14 “Variable And Full Of Perturbation”

Boy Tatiana!

“Wow. Girl fights are mean.”

Poor Donnie. Alison just doesn’t understand how traumatizing it can be to accidentally Pulp Fiction your boss.

I’m sorry, but Boy Tatiana is just laughably bad..

I love that in the Felix–Art partnership, Felix has become the lead partner. I wonder why they didn’t just have Sarah be Beth?

Four guys in love with one lesbian.

Oooh, Dr. Moreau! Symbolism!

Of course the gay guy kisses his foster sister’s tranny clone. What else could he do?

Make-up drugs are the best!

And the fertility question is resolved. Don’t you dare make me like Rachel!

I no longer trust Scott.

And I refuse to let them kill Cosima.

Agree on "Boy Tatiana"

If you looked carefully (OK, I freeze framed it, I admit) when "he" was getting out of the tub, there was some fairly serious boobage on display. He's hawt.

Me four on Boy Tatiana. It was like a Saturday Night Live parody of the show.

Tony should die a quick death and be forgotten as fast!

That was the exact phrase I was thinking. At least he's on a bus now. Hopefully one that goes far, far from Toronto!

Include me and make that five guys. I'll cry if Cosima dies.

I kept thinking "Cowardly Lion" whenever Tony was on screen. That was one serious mullet. The interstitial explained why they went the mullet route but still, that was one serious mullet.

"I'm pretty sure he crapped his pants."

What happened to Paul? Is my memory even worse than usual or is his absence truly a mystery?

I'm surprised they didn't Skype Tony with Allison and Cosima.

Tony was just a stupid idea. Proof that even this awesome show can stumble.

I don't think it was necessarily a stupid idea. But it was terrible execution.

The creators discussed the creation of Tony: http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/06/07/or...lone-creators/

If the reaction here is a representative sample and its towards the end of the season perhaps they will tweek the acting or say goodbye to that character.

I like the concept but was troubled by the execution as well. I don't want Tony to die any time soon though. But then, I'm cool with all of the clones staying alive for this season at least.

She is a really good actress and I see why she was selected for the role.

I forget how many episodes do we get? 10 or 13? and this was 8 right? Seems like if there's 10 they have a lot to do over the next two.

Precisely my thinking.

A jolting WTF???? "Jumped the shark" moment for OB.

The problem with "Tony" aside from the laugh out loud ludicrous appearance is that Tony rudely yanks you out of the drama and into the reality of realizing that you are watching a TV show where Tatiana is playing all these different characters. Normally we viewers get so engrossed in the excellent different clone portrayals that we forget we're watching a TV show and one actress.

They tried to be funny in the scenes with Felix and fell flat for the 1st time I can recall on this show.

I came here to comment on the bad fake boy Tatiana. Now Tony was born female right? Had gender reassignment done? I guess thats why he was having testosterone shots.

That is exactly what I was thinking. It was jarring to be yanked out like that.

I think we're all missing the true genius. Tony's just channeling his inner Apolo Ohno:

The Tony character reminded me of one of the characters that was on United States of Tara. Just over the top testosterone. I do like the concept, because it gives us another facet to how these characters developed. Now we have a clone that's b.s. crazy, two that are gay, with one of the gay characters changing to a man. Was this done due to experimentation by the scientist dude (I'm having a bad day for remembering names), or by accident (as we learn that Sarah having the baby was not supposed to happen)?

Maybe even the individual human genome is just variable and full of perturbation?

Could be. Finding out this stuff will be interesting. Even with this odd character Tony, there's enough interesting going on that I can easily get past "him".

This was my initial reaction, too.

And then when this became the explanation, I was able to accept it.

I agree it was poorly executed, but I was able to buy into it just enough to not let it bother me. As someone else said, hopefully whatever bus Tony's on is taking him far, far out of the picture.

I'll chime in just to agree on the jarring appearance of Tony. First time I ever felt disappointed by the appearance of a new clone. Not sure why they even felt the need to introduce her. Guess time (and the writers) will tell.

I love Orphan Black but Tony just took me out of it.

I understand this show has a big LBGT following, and Tony seemed like pandering to me. "Transgender? Check. They'll love it."

What's been great about Orphan Black is that the characters are so good and so believable. This one was neither.

I thought the first Tony scene was a flashback to Sarah's criminal past. Then I thought I saw a beard went "wtf?" Then I saw the beard and went "WTF?!?!?"

I hope it is NOT because they are killing Cosima and they need a replacement "gay" clone.

Totally agree with this. Instead of being engrossed in the story and not even thinking about Tatiana, the introduction of Tony took me completely out of the story and had me focusing solely on Tatiana's performance rather than what Tony meant to the plot.
