S1 question

So, I have a old S1 just setting in my closet. It would not boot up and it was replaced years ago but I kept it just in case I needed a part. Seeing that I wouldn't ever need a part from that box, I'm thinking about just tossing it.

I do have a question, I'm guessing the hard drive went out, is there anyway I can salvage any of the programs on it? I don't think I would really care being so old, but wanted to see if there was a way before I trash it.

If the drive is toast then you can probably kiss the recordings goodbye. You could try running SpinRite on the drive to see if you can rejuvenate it enough to bring it back to life. Unfortunately, the series 1's don't have any way to offload the recordings to a PC unless you have a Turbonet or one of the older Tivonet adapters and software from www.9thTee.com. You'd have to watch the shows directly from the Tivo.

If you have ANOTHER S1, you could go through the 'upgrade and keep your recordings' steps.
