Reminded me of the Brady Bunch goes to Hawaii, only without the tiki idol

What's up with all the location shoots anyway? They were just in Vegas...

If I was cynical, I would say the city/country/continent's tourism board probably gave the show a big bag of money.

Not as very memorable episode for me. A few chuckles, but overall, a throwaway episode.

I enjoyed it, but it was a bit jarring that all of a sudden they were on vacation somewhere.

I'd say it's more likely that the producers have figured out a way to get a vacation paid for by the show.

I wonder how they fit these into the shooting schedule. Most shows film one episode every 7-8 days and they're struggling to stay ahead of the broadcast schedule. Maybe they filmed this as the last episode of the season so people could stay in Australia for a bit after filming without interfering with shooting of the next episode.

At the very least, Qantas did..as noted in the credits.

The episode was filmed back in February. They had an incident where a deranged fan was arrested for groping Sara Hyland at a party in Syndey.

Whenever they show the plane and mention the airline you can be almost 100% positive that they got a free or heavily discounted flight to wherever they were going.

Here's an article from Australia on the promotional aspect and the Aussie reaction.

This what I thought right away!

I was waiting for some jokes about the toilets flushing different and really wasn't impressed with the episode overall.

I wish I was part of that family or had jobs like they do - you know where you can just take off from work or school and not worry about the time.

What was Alex's quote in response? Something about a missed opportunity?

But that's what Alex's line about a missed opportunity was about.

Had to look up the New Zealand guy after pausing the episode, since he seemed SO familiar.. It's Rhys Darby, who I remembered from the stupid (but I still watched) summer burnoff show "How to be a gentleman" a few years ago.

Then he was on a recent Adam Carolla podcast episode I happened to listen to yesterday, and has a new show on either amazon or netflix.

Hawaii is probably jam packed with people that managed to take family vacations

Probably less than half of them actually have jobs.

Totally meh for me. It was about the same as the previous 100 sitcoms that have the characters on vacation in Hawaii, England, Paris, etc. It's cliche but with imagination it can be done much better, such as Parks and Rec when several of the characters went to England.

The only bit that I enjoyed was with Rhys Darby from Flight of the Conchords, a show that I really miss.

Haley should have tried out the topless beach, that would have made a super preview for the show and got it much higher ratings, what were they thinking? Then they'd show her from the back just like they did others. They could have the brothers complaining they were blinded upon seeing her, lots of comedy ideas got missed....
