The Simpson's: Simpsorama, Season 26 ep. 6, 11/9/2014

Looks like there is another Simpson's crossover with Futuroma tonight.

Here is the couch gag. I'd rather see a Futuroma version of Bart, Marge, and the rest for the gag.

But I hope I like the episode.

Futurama's always good. Especially all the injokes. Though Panucci's Pizza was in New York, New York, not Springfield, state unknown. Now we need to calculate how old Fry's dog is supposed to be since it looks to be a bit young.

Though I don't quite get the FXXX satellite...

And I didn't catch the Homer's head and Bender's head thing.

yeah, that's one of the reasons I didn't like the episode

Fry's dog is such an iconic part of Futurama

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6GDil0rGls

then they change the location of the pizzeria which takes away from the awesomeness of the original Futurama episode

X is the roman numeral for 10
so I was thinking FXXX was 10 * 10 * 10 for 1000 years in the future

I thought it was a play on the FXX Network getting all the Simpson episodes.

I found the opposite to be true. I enjoyed this episode more than the Family Guy episode.

It was enjoyable but too short. Would have been nice for Simpsons to spend more time in the future, maybe fly to another planet.
I didn't get why the dog was in Springfield ...

Loved it!!!

What fun!!

I liked it a LOT more than the family guy crossover.

The ending was great with Homer singing.

This. The FX network created a new sister network called FXX so this was just a gag that in 1,000 years, there will be an FXXX.

Agree with those who wish it would have been an hour. At this length, they barely got to introduce the Futurama characters and then quickly solve the conflict. If they'd had an hour, they could have fleshed all that stuff out much better.

"A mashup of a show out of ideas with a show out of episodes."

If you freeze frame the end, it's the Simpsons open in Futurama land. Duff Beer. Dr. Frink's dating service. Ned, Barney, and others in the people tube.

Look for Homer/Dan on the last "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" (last of the season)

I didn't watch Futurama, but I am familiar with it. I really enjoyed this. I certainly laughed a lot more than I did with the Family Guy crossover episode (which I did not dislike, but did not exactly like, either). Bender and Homer were a lot of fun together.

I thought "The Simpsons" and "Futurama" were in completely different universes.

For that matter, I'm not sure how Springfield would become New New York.

Well, it's not like they haven't moved the town of Springfield before.

I loved that! Right away I noticed the rabbits were from Life In Hell. What a great mashup of all the of Matt Groening.

I did laugh a lot at this, and I love(d) Futurama and still love the Simpsons.. but I too agree the Simpsons/FG mashup was simply _funnier_ overall.

It COULD be a very subtle Simpsons call back. I literally watched the episode today that was the jump forward to Lisa's wedding and when Marge and Homer were in bed watching TV Marge said

"FOX gradually changed into a hardcore porn channel. It changed so gradually that no one really noticed it."

But it's probably more of a joke on FXX like others said

I loved this episode. The outro in the end credits in New New York was awesome.

And there was graffiti in the background that said "Crossovers are Hell". I thought that was a marvelous touch.

I caught a part of the outro, but thanks to clock misalignment, it got caught in the middle of two recordings. Is it available somewhere to watch?

In fact, I think it was Bongo (with one ear) who was spray-painting that graffiti.

Apparently not.

Futurama was created (I think) because Matt Groening was upset about how many different people and entities "owned" the Simpsons. It's one of the reasons it took so long for a Simpsons movie to be made. So he created Futurama as something he could maintain more control over.

Unlike Family Guy, you can see the characters in Futurama have the same characteristics as the Simpsons. The same coloring, the same eyes (or eye, as in Lela's case), same body types and style. It's such a natural fit to make Futurama the Simpsons's world in the future.

So Nibbler is Baby Maggie?

John DiMaggio said when they showed him Bender, he went for drunk prizefighter voice, nothing like Homer.

Dr. Zoidberg is 1/2 Georgie Jessel and 1/2 Lou Jacobi.
