HIMYM - "Unpause" OAD 01/20/2014

Liked the Mother scenes on their own, but they were very out of place with the rest of the episode. It almost felt like watching two different shows.

I'm curious what is going to happen between Lily and Marshall. I was very impressed with Alyson Hannigan's acting ability during the argument. She really looked upset.

The Barney stuff was interesting, sweet, ludicrous, and completely out of character at different times. I do like that they finally answered the question of what he does for a living and how it tied into his back story.

I like when they flash back to actual flashbacks from the series rather than making up flashbacks. Good stuff. Great to finally find out what Barney does for a living. Please.

The ring bearer is a bear. Didn't lie. Robin didn't ask the right question.

Didn't he say the ring bearer was a child of someone they know?

That's what we all assumed until they showed the last scene.

Like Tony said, Robin didn't ask the right question.

A lot of people with pets consider themselves parents to their pets. It's usually cats and dogs though.

He did.
He's a magician. It's very common for magicians to work with animals.

But isn't that what he used to do for a living? The job that signs on to any illegal things his company is doing would go away after the Feds busted the boss wouldn't it?

Technically that was in the future, so not "used to" just yet

Exactly. I'm pretty sure Future Ted said that happens two months after the wedding.

Liked this episode. The 2am thread was a pretty thin way to hang this episode together, however.

Who did Lilly call at 2am to pick her up, Ranjit?

Especially since it was well past 2 am at that point, given that they'd spent some time interrogating Barney and then had their fun in their room.

So there are 9 more episodes. Presumably at least the last couple episodes will take place at/during/after the wedding. So at the most we've got 7 more episodes to tell the story of what happens between 3 am and 7 pm. The next episode is entitled:
Spoiler:
How Your Mother Met Me

So presumably it won't advance the day-of-the-wedding timeline very much. So 6 episodes to tell 16 hours of story. Hopefully the gang will go to bed after the events of this episode and the next one will jump to sometime in the morning.

I was thinking she called The Captain. I thought Ranjit was already at the Inn for the weekend.

I figured it was the Mom. She's not leaving Robin on her big day - just needed to get away from Marshall for the night.
So, as unusual as it would be in real life, I think she called her new friend from the train.

She could still call ranjit. She made a phone call then a car pulled up. Could've been 5 minutes or an hour.

That was my first thought.
But when she went to the back seat it seemed more like she had a driver than she was leaving with friend/acquaintance.

The very very last scene (the teaser just before for the closing credits) lead me to believe that there really is going to be a ring bear.

I thought it was going to be the mother too.

But then she got into a black car, not a van.

Yeah, as busy said, the Mother rode the train out from the city and we've seen her have access to a van in Farhampton, but where is she going to get access to a Town Car at 3 am?

Note that the car was the same one that Mom and Ted got in 2 years later where Ted was driving...
Could just be production not getting a second car for the shot.. or it could be a big deal
