Silly MSD question... Was told no MSD with 2 boxes.

Hey folks. This could be my lack of Tivo plan knowledge, but I've browsed around and I'm still confused on their MSD policy.

I have a Series 3 sitting in my closet with Lifetime, a Premiere with Lifetime, and I was thinking of buying a Roamio Plus and adding Lifetime to that. The gentlemen over chat told me that I would have to have my Series 3 up to get the MSD of $399 even if only for a few minutes.

Wouldn't 2 units (Roamio and Premiere?) count as MSD? To be honest, I plan to sell both of these in the future, but now I'm re-thinking such a move because if I upgrade 3 years form now, I may not qualify for future MSD. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks a bunch. -Jeff

I would just use the code "PLSR" and get Lifetime for $399 without having to deal with MSD.

Is that code always active though?

If you bought the Premiere with MSD then it can not be used as an "anchor" for another MSD. That's why you need the S3 unit to connect for a few minutes, to show it's still alive and able to be the "anchor" for another MSD.

But I'd just use PLSR, then the resulting lifetime service could be used as an "anchor" for future MSD purchases.

Got it, thanks Dan. How long is the PLSR offer going for? I haven't picked up a Plus yet, waiting for it to just $50 bucks or so, maybe even hoping for $100!

The PLSR coupon has been active for years now. No idea when/if it's going away.

I'm so glad I read this thread. I am going to use the coupon code tonight when I set up my new Roamio.

I really love this place.
