Sherlock "The Sign of Three" PBS OAD 01/26/14 SPOILERS

Really? No comments at all on what I thought was a drop-dead hilarious episode of Sherlock? Definitely the funniest of the entire series.

I don't think I've laughed out loud as much for any episode of any show in several years. And when I wasn't guffawing, I was chuckling or saying "Awww..." at the tender moments.

This version of Mary Morstan Watson is very appealing -- she has great chemistry with both Watson and Holmes.

I am going to have to rewatch this episode as it's not fresh on my mind since I watched it shortly after it's UK airing, but drunk Sherlock is pretty darn funny!

I'm sure I'll have more to add after the rewatch.

I assure you, you will LOVE the season's final episode next week.

I'm still not totally sure I like the change in Sherlock's personality, but this episode explained the reason for it. I loved the bit where Sherlock tells about being asked to best man. "It turned out I never said any of that out loud." great line.

I thought this was the best episode ever. I like the different tone. Better than next week for me.

Amanda Abbington is fabulous. If you aren't familiar with her background already, take a look at her bio on imdb.

My wife and I laughed out loud at the "not to mention the elephant in the room" line, and then the cut back to Holmes and Watson both with a look of shock and surprise, an then an elephant trumpeting.

I loved it!

That was a VERY long toast.

It works, I think, that they are making her a part of the team and not a boat anchor for the relationship. Holmes leaves, Watson follows, and Mary gives it three count before racing after.

Did we learn why the guard was killed?

I totally didn't expect the way this episode progressed. I spent the first half hour wondering when the mystery would begin. I liked it but it took me a while to figure out what was going on.

Yes; it was the test run for the technique that'd be used on the real target. Or if you mean why him specifically, just because it's a good test, someone you can get right up to and he'll have to stand still while you do, and who wears the same kind of very tight belt, and who will take it off in a secure area.

In another place after the show aired in the U.K. I posted:

Probably my least favourite episode. But I am wondering if it is a setup for the big bad in the last episode.

(and in not liking a wedding [I have] become Sherlock )

Now this episode had some of the Steven Moffat (writer) humor I enjoyed in the BBC TV series Coupling!

I don't buy that they wouldn't feel the stab wound. Just wouldn't happen. The amount of force required to go through such a belt would be tremendous, and the guard would notice. Also, you can take pictures of the guards, but I don't believe that you are allowed to touch them. Just wouldn't happen.

There is only one more episode? That sucks. What's that 7 a year?

3 a season, and seasons aren't always one season a year. There might be 2 or 3 years in between.

There was 2 years between seasons 2 and 3 because both Freeman and Cumberbatch were "otherwise engaged"

I thought this was a really boring episode. I started playing a game on my phone while watching it and I don't usually multitask while watching TV. And I don't get the whole stabbing in the belt thing. How does the guy not know he was stabbed already? And where does the weapon go?

The weapon stays in the killer's hand, he stabs in and then back out.

The idea that the victim wouldn't feel it seems pretty hard to believe, and is one of the bigger plot holes in this entire story. That said, I'm not prepared to put on a tight belt for a few hours and then get stabbed to test whether it might somehow go unnoticed or feel like an innocuous pinch because of the belt or something. Someone call the Mythbusters.

I'm aware of that. I was refuting 7 episodes a year.
