Hmmm....don't know what to tell you. I just unlinked my TiVo boxes from Zap2it, and when I tried to link again, I got the same error you did....
EDIT: when I tried again, I made sure I logged in to TiVo.com first, then when I tried I got this error message --
An error was encountered while trying to link your TiVo® device(s). Go to TiVo.com and make sure you have a TiVo® Series2™ or Series3™ DVR.

So, apparently Zap2it is only looking for S2 or S3 machines. I have an HD (which is S3) and an XL4, so I'm not sure what the problem is...looks like they haven't updated their process in quite some time...
