Sherlock-Streaming from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon

I watched "Unlocking Sherlock" on PBS the other night and it got me interested in the show. I looked and it was available on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon streaming.

I watched the first Episode and loved it. I did some research and there seems to be only 3 episodes per season and the episodes are 1.5 to 2 hours long. I'm thinking I want to see the 3rd season so I was hoping it was on PBS. I found it on Masterpiece Mystery!. But it says "Sherlock, Series III: The empty (Sea 6 Ep14). Season 6? 14 episodes. I set it to record but not sure if I'm getting season 3 of Sherlock or not.

The Empty Hearse? Yes, that is the first episode of Sherlock series (season) 3.

The next two you are looking for is The Sign of Three and a His Last Vow.

I think the numbering is off because it's referring to the season and episode of Masterpiece Mystery instead of Sherlock. Sherlock is just one of the programs shown on masterpiece Mystery. The same thing happens with Downton Abbey and Masterpiece Classic.

Happy to see that awareness of Sherlock is becoming mainstream. I was on this show from the beginning and, in the brief periods that it is on, it has always been my favorite thing on television. So good.

Anyway -- yes, Jstkiddn has it right. The third season is the standard three episodes and it starts this weekend, the 19th, and then airs the following two Sundays.

I just finished watching seasons 1&2 on Amazon Prime. Loved it! Makes me realize how poor a ripoff Elementary is - although I'd prefer Johnie Lee Miller in the British version. But love the casting of John Watson and all the sarcasm he has toward Sherlock, and how he's always saying "I'm not gay.".

Already got a season pass set for PBS premiere of season 3.

Spoilers are the reason I didn't look at the Season 3 Thread. Thanks for the info.

There IS NO season three thread!

It was established very early that only US aired shows can be discussed here anyway, so those of us who've seen the latest season are keeping mum.

Personally, I wouldn't want to take the pleasure away from anyone yet to see it. I'll join in the discussion when it's aired.

Otherwise it would be a bit like knowing the twist in The Sixth Sense or Usual Suspects (not hinting at twists or indeed, anything, in the upcoming shows!).

We have an old electronic sign in town that is on top of a building which can display two four character messages. Usually it flashes an ad for a local attorney or notifies of winter parking bans, but for the past few days it has been showing "SHER LOCK"

All good here OTA on Houston PBS. That must have been frustrating.

I don't consider Elementary a poor ripoff of Sherlock. It is a different version of Sherlock Holmes, and just as good as Sherlock, albeit in a different way. Plus, there is more Elementary to watch than Sherlock.

Thats weird - I read that one of the early torrents of Season 3 had that problem, but not later copies ...

Try a better source!

I watch and like them both - only one I didn't care for so much was the Robert Downey Jr films -
too brash, too many explosions, too American ...

My recording is fine.

Do we need to start a new thread to discuss last nights show?

Actually I'm posting from my phone at the racetrack in between post times, so please do the honors. I'll catch up later when I have a real keyboard.

It is season 6, episode 14 of "Masterpiece Mystery!".. Just like the way every other TV show does it..

BTW, has anybody seen the unaired pilot of Sherlock? Apparently it's on the DVDs, I definitely won't pay $2 to see it from Amazon.

I watched the first ep so far and about half of the 2nd ep. Though I've never read the original books, this *seems* much more faithful to "bringing Sherlock Holmes into the present".. yet (I expect excoriation for this) I think I enjoy "Elementary" more, yes, probably because I saw it first. I also think the *gimmick* (yes it's entirely a gimmick) of turning Watson into a woman is entertaining. They're *both* very entertaining though.
