Almost Human "Simon Says" 1/6/2014

Just got caught up on the show last week. My favorite new show this season. Haven't finished watching this ep yet, but thought I'd contribute a thread for discussion. I'll be back when I've finished the ep.

I thought this was one of the better episodes. It's been up and down for me. Some episodes I've really liked and some have been really boring. I'm sticking with it for now.

It's a shame cop cars of the future don't have charging ports for the androids. It's also a shame car designs have changed very little in 35 years. But other than that, I'm enjoying the series.

The interaction between Bones and Data is great and makes the show....

...and, of course, Minka dresses it up nicely.

It's kinda strange that the robots get so glitchy even at 47% charged.

Another enjoyable ep. I really like Rudy. And now Dorian gets to live with him. That should be fun!

It took me almost two full episodes to realize where I had seen Mackenzie Crook before.
And now, poor Dorian has to live with Gareth.

I should have put 'gets to' in quotes, cause yes, I meant it as 'has to'. Perfect example of 'be careful what you ask for'!

I agree. I don't really have much to say about the show, but wanted to give it some attention just cause I enjoy it.

I'm wondering why there has been no mention of them backing up the brain-states of the robots. Dorian should back himself up each night, then he can risk his "life" every day and still have a chance of being revived in a new body even if his old body is destroyed.

For example, in this episode Dorian should have stayed inside the shield with the first guy and tried something, anything, to defuse the bomb before the time ran out. If nothing else, just rip the thing off the guy, or at least rip some of the wires out. If it explodes, they could find another body for Dorian (there must be other Dorian units around that could download our Dorian's brain state...there was that one generic one with the janitorial job...)

Who played the first guy that got killed with the bomb-around-the-neck. I've seen him in other things but his character doesn't show up in the IMDB.

This is a somewhat humorous, popcorn show. And I think Minka is adorable. But when she’s on screen, I think “model” instead of “actor”.

I enjoyed Kennex having to debomb himself.

Of course, the best would be if you thought neither of those, but rather "Valerie Stahl" or "Detective Stahl".

Yes, this is definitely one of the better shows of the season. My favorite by far.

Although, if the whole thing was found to be airing for someone's viewer count, why didn't Kennex (while he was idling about before helping Dorian) go and try to disable the cameras? They had access to the live stream and he could go and deny the audience their entertainment...

Which is the point that I was making.

This is my favorite new show but I thought this was the worst episode of the series. I had a hard time getting past the fact that they would let a possibly dangerously unstable android out of the police station. Also, do people not have fingerprints 35 years from now? The bad guy planted the cameras with his bare hands. He was too dumb to wear gloves and the cops were too dumb to check for prints.

Minka Kelly looks like she's laughing whenever she talks, no matter how dire the situation.

Rewatch with hub last night- I had forgotten how hilarious is was that every time Dorian said "low charge" his voice dropped an octave.

I wonder when they'll show the missing episodes.

If they wait too long, they'll probably seem really strange as far as the relationships between the characters appearing to have regressed.

The previous ep was one of them (#3 in production order).

I like this show more than SHIELD (which is a similar freak of the week sci fi show) because it generally is creative. This episode wasn't that creative, however. At least it wasn't a 100% rip off of SAW like it seemed at first. But it still was only moderately creative. If not for the really confusing low charge idea, it would have been a pretty flat episode. And I agree that the low charge thing makes no sense, at least not at 47%. I also question how he dropped almost 50% in such a short period of time (a couple of minutes) when he does some pretty physical things normally. I have a feeling they will throw away this entire idea for future episodes - and they should.
