Wow, Ronald Moore take notice, this is what good writing is all about. Whats this show been on? a couple seasons? This ep wrapped everything together. It all fit like a puzzle. An amazing job of writing.

Couldn't agree more... an excellent hour of television and it tied so much together, so perfectly.

Probably my favorite episode of the season. It was really great how they tied everything together.

Spot on.
Of course I'll rescind my acclaim if it turns out The Machine is an angel or some other pull it out of your a$$ at the last minute Final Five Ronald Moore nonsense.

This is season 3.

I love that the show has built a very rich mythology and manages to tie it together so well.

This one worked very well as it picks up the hint that Miss Groves dropped earlier about there being others before Reese and weaves it heavily into the show's previous mythology and gives it relevance to the current events in the show.

I also liked the fact that they showed why Mr. Dillinger (really Harold, the name wasn't a tip off?) wasn't a good fit for this job and why Finch settled on Reese.

Didn't Harold tell Reese that he wasn't the first one?

I've lost track of what happens when... how was it that Finch knew that Reese was CIA at that point in time?

I can't remember if he did or not.
I'm leaning towards no because of how Root brought it up.

I don't think that's been explained but I would guess that Finch already had Reese on his list of candidates but hadn't settled on him until he saw Reese help Casey.

Yeah, I am pretty sure we've heard there have been other Reeses before.

One thing that they dropped from the pilot:

When Finch picked up Reese the first time he had a driver.

Ya think a body in shallow grave in Central Park will go unnnoticed? Besides Shaw shot 3-4 other guys, too.

I was surprised that Finch buried the body too. Nobody in tv land cares about the multitude of dead bodies they leave behind so why start now?

One thing I really liked about this episode was that it had only a little of the hacking computer/network/firewall hacking that Finch usually does. I was a little disappointed to see Root show up. I'm not loving her character. Maybe that'll change in the future.

In the previous episode we had Mondo-violent-hacker-challenging-Harold#6(?) after root, and the other women.

And the kid is good-hacker #5 or so.

Come off of it guys.

Exactly. Stupid move on Finch's part. If the police find Dillinger shot dead among three or four other bodies, he's part of some situation that went bad. Pretty cut and dried. But if he's the only one of the bunch who's been buried, then it becomes a situation that requires closer scrutiny. Presumably there's no real way to trace anything back from Dillinger to Finch, anyway. But burying the guy at the very least throws up a flag that says "one of these things it not like the others."
