Archer - Season 5 (spoilers?)

For anyone who enjoys the show "Archer", I read an interview with Matt Thompson, Executive Producer of "Archer" on significant changes to the storyline for season 5.

I find it hard to believe the changes mentioned are really going to happen, but spoiler alert anyway.

My anticipation has almost turned to dread.

Yeah, I read the article a few days ago and really have to wonder/hope that this gigantic spoiler is just a big misdirection to generate buzz. :::hoping:::

Well, I did enjoy the first episode. It's the characters that make the show, and since they're still all there (well, except for poor Brett), it was a riot! I was figuratively rolling on the floor laughing.

I enjoyed the first episode and as usual I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

I hope it doesn't suck!

The only thing I can complain about Archer is the unoriginality in the voices.

Oh, it's Bob from Bob's Burgers. Oh, it's Joe from Family Guy.

Then again, I guess it's some sort of inside joke. And yes, I know the same actors play both. But damn, everytime I watch Archer, I keep seeing Bob, burger chef, and not spy.

It was entertaining. I'm kind of glad to see it changed up.

I admire a show that so flaunts its knowledge of the difference between "literal" and "figurative." Literally.

And I like the the new status quo. It's good that they're going to shake things up and keep everybody on their toes. Figuratively.

I donated blood today. The lady who took care of me had the last name Benoit.

I kept thinking "balls"?

You did see this from last season's "Archer," yes?

Not yet. Netflix doesn't have season 4 yet (I only started during the holidays).

Though, apparently the first episode of S4 had a crossover with Bob's Burgers.

Archer came first, starting in 2009, Bob's Burgers started in 2011.

Patrick Warburton (Joe on FG) was only in 3 episodes of Archer back 2011.

Warburton has a very distinct voice and never changes it for parts. (Brock on Venture Brothers, Joe, The Tick)

Episode 5x1

I liked the first episode, but I didn't like the ArcherVice fast forward at the end.

Well, I should clarify. I HATE when shows do 'This season on Miami Vice' and then show multiple clips from upcoming episodes. I don't want to know various things that are coming up (Archer gets a Tiger!). I want to be organically surprised by where they take the show. So that annoyed me.

That being said, what they showed was awesome, and it looks like the ArcherVice path is going to be great. I just wish I hadn't seen so much of it.

Perhaps they were worried about people jumping ship with ISIS gone, so they felt the need to preview what happens?

The beginning of the episode where Archer comes in had everyone on their toes. Literally.

What's weird is when you see the actor in a live show and hear the voice.

As pointed out previously, Archer came first.

Do you really think people watch this show because of ISIS?

It was the first few minutes of the S4 premiere.

Here's one that's even more weird. I knew Aisha Tyler was tall, but Damn!

L to R: Chris Parnell (Cyril), H. Jon Benjamin (Archer), Aisha Tyler (Lana), series creator Adam Reed.

Has it dawned on anyone else that the "This season on..." was all a gag?

Yes, that's just what I was going to respond to billypritchard with -- "are you sure those were 'real' clips?"

I would have thought the same thing if I hadn't already read the interview from Matt Thompson linked in the first post of this thread.
