Big Brother - 8/17/14

How awesome was that? Donny winning that comp may have just made the rest of this lackluster season worthwhile.

Second "fail" in a row on throwing the BoB competition!

I had a feeling the plan would fail when Caleb and Cody decided it was a good idea to use the buddy system and look in the same places and waste time by holding on to a bone until a second one was found rather than immediately putting it on the board, so they'd have more time to search.

Did Christine hand off any good bones?

Donny was not only playing by himself, he was playing 3 against 1 since Christine was helping the other team.

I also finally got proof that Derrick's glasses are fake. Did anyone else notice that he had his thumb and forefinger through the hole where a lens should be? This was when he was talking to Donny in the HoH room.

Hated to see Christine try and pull that off. I know Donny eluded to it but I hope he calls her out for throwing the comp.
I'm guessing unless Victoria wins veto, which would be a miracle, she goes home. I'm not a fan of hers but I'd much rather watch the bomb squad/detonators turn on each other sooner rather than later.

Finally, some intrigue. One of the better episodes. As I always say, never volunteer to go on the block AND never plan to throw a competition. This could bite the alliance on the butt big time. I still think Derrick is the favorite to win, but don't underestimate Donny. He's got more lives than a cat, and he's really good at saving himself from the block. In fact, this might have been Derrick's first really bad move of the game, and that's not trying to backdoor Donny, and put Victoria up on the block. First of all Donny has been good at competitions while Victoria is useless in them. Her playing with Christine for instance would have made it more difficult to win BoB. Then you just put Donny after the Veto. But I get why he did that, because of his secret alliance with Victoria.

The problem with trying to "throw" a competition is you just don't know if it'll be he type of competition you can throw easily. Caleb not playing last week was actually a boon to Frankie's game, and playing in the dark this week leveled the playing field a lot as well.

Yea, Donny came through. He may think that the girl threw the competition, but in the dark there is no proof. She may have just been bad it. I don't think he'll say anything. After he gets out of the house and sees the tapes, he'll know for sure. hehe

I hope they back door Zack. I don't like that guy. His game is bad. He's very explosive when it comes to people.

He knows. Caleb and Christine were called out by a producer over the PA system during the competition and told to stop.

I don't read that thread until after seeing the Wednesday spisode. That way I get no spoilers.

But Donnie knows they tried to throw the comp. He suspected even before they started.

I'm amazed at how poor Donny keeps managing to hang on. How many times has he been nominated now?

Using spoiler tags because it didn't air in the episode

Spoiler:

Unfortunately, there's no more information. Production saw Christine handing bones to Caleb and Cody and yelled at them to stop. Obviously Donny heard, but there was no mention of any penalties.

Spoiler:

Maybe if Caleb & Cody had won there might have been penalties. Since Donny won in spite of Christine (and knows it), that is probably penalty enough. I think I saw her hand off two bones, but at least one of them was a bad one. Couldn't see if there were xxx on the other one.

I do apologize.

I don't read the live feeds thread, but I'm curious:

Spoiler:
Is there written rules stating she can't do that, or is this another example of production making crap up on the fly?

You need to spoiler that.

This would have been a good opportunity for Christine to help Donny win actually. Her alliance wouldn't have known and she would have been safe. Worked out that way for her anyways.

Seriously? Why would that need spoilered?

I don't get why anything that is spoilered so far needs spoilered. I guess that is why I just don't post anything anymore. It seems to hard these days to figure out what is spoiler worthy.

It refers to stuff that was spoilered in a previous post.

The rules of this thread is, if something happened in the Live feeds or off camera (i.e. we didn't see it on the CBS broadcast) it needs to be spoilered.

Some folks like to watch ONLY the broadcasts with no knowledge of anything outside of what CBS shows us.

I'm curious about this as well. I don't understand why the contestants can't do whatever they want during the competitions.

I almost never read the live feeds thread. I don't like the spoilers, but I'm very seriously considering it on this occasion. I'm curious to know what people think about this particular situation.

I'll read it as long as the Veto competition hasn't happened yet. If someone could verify that, I'm ok with reading it this time.

Spoiler:
As you all know from last week, I don't like when Production interferes with game play. Although well intentioned, it might be misconstrued as playing favorites.

I don't see the need to spoiler it, it already happened and the decided to edit it out, it's not like the stuff edited out will be used later. It doesn't effect the game going forward.

How do you know it won't affect the game going forward? It seems to me like it's the type of thing that could have huge ramifications on the game. I personally don't have a problem with information like this being shared in this thread, but it's technically against the rules to do so without a spoiler tag. Some people don't want to have any knowledge of the game other than what is provided for them by the editors, and we have to respect that.

There is nothing more to be learned about that in the spoiler thread. It's just minor meddling that protects the spirit of the competition, so it's easy to justify.

It would just be nice if these rules that seem to be made up on the fly were stated before hand. Otherwise it looks like they are protecting a favorite.

Do you happen to know exactly when the veto comp takes place each week?
