Nightmare with Roamio -- No Response from Tivo

I am a very loyal customer of TIVO. Have an old set with a lifetime service. Got a new Roamio. Had an installer here to help me transfer my recorded programs and season passes to the new TIVO. He knew exactly how to do this and it would have taken an hour. Only we lost our internet connection and had multiple calls to TIVO, etc. We finally figured out that the wireless unit in the new TIVO is broken -- came that way.
So now I have to pay the installer for the extra time -- and then when I get a new unit, I'll have to bring him back to install the new unit.
I'm 70 years old and will not be doing the installation myself. In any event, he knows how to transfer the recorded programs and season passes. I'll pay for that.
I explained this out of pocket cost to the TIVO representative and said, "To make me whole, you should give me lifetime service on the new set, this being what you've cost me with the installer trying to install the broken one for three extra house." He said, "No." He offered me a MOCA adapter and filter, but why shouldn't I get a TIVO without wireless? Why should I take the risk that there is something else wrong with this unit? I'm out of pocket a large amount of money -- worth lifetime service -- and TIVO gives me nothing to compensate for my loss. I am amazed that TIVO is so cavalier with its loyal customers. Amazed.

Lifetime service for free? Is this post for real?

Aw come on, you can't make TiVo reasonable for 3rd party labor on installing a TiVo no matter what age you are, IE: you purchase a toilet wholesale, have a plumber install the toilet, find a small crack in the toilet, you have to have the plumber un-install the toilet, you have to return it to the place you purchased it, they will give you a new one but not pay for the extra labor that it cost you, OR you can purchase the toilet and installation together and then that co would reinstall the cracked toilet at no extra charge, that why the co marks up the price of the toilet itself, so the 1 in 100 problems they have they can afford to fix without charging you any more money.
PS that why people use the cable co DVR, no hassle never any extra cost if something does not work correctly. If I had to pay a 3rd pty to install my TiVo(s), I would be using the cable co DVR or I would be wealthy enough that the extra money would not matter to me.

I'm sympathetic. I recently purchased an outdoor LED light and had an electrician install it, only for it to fail two weeks later. Got the light replaced, called the electrician, light fails again two weeks later. I'm out two hours of labor with an electrician, but I can't expect either the LED manufacturer or the retailer to compensate me for the electrician's time.

Expecting TiVo to compensate you in this situation isn't reasonable either. And yet it sounds like they were offering you a MoCA adapter and filter gratis. Considering they're not responsible for your installation costs in any way, that's generous. (And MoCA is much better than wireless anyway.)

There's nothing anyone can do if you are worried it's a bum unit. Return it and get your lifetime service fee back, and buy another one - or don't.

I'm sympathetic but poster says Tivo offered nothing for his loss, but also says they offered a Moca and adapter and filter, that is something.
It's frustrating. It's nice to keep recordings but it is not glitch free. Here you can not even make copies as Time Warner blocks copying or moving recorded content. so no transfers allowed. but not Tivos fault. good luck.

You realize these days lifetime service costs $400-$500 right? If you paid an installer that must to install a TiVo and transfer your recordings and SPs then you paid too much.

This is a long shot, but if you happen to be in Carson City, NV let me know and I'll come over and install it for you for free.
