Canceling DirecTV & watching shows on S1/S2 units

I just got a 6 tuner Roamio and will likely be cancelling DirecTV and taking my old DSR6000 and HDVR2 out of service this month. Is there anything I need to do before I cancel so that I can watch the shows on these boxes after I cancel my DirecTV sub (remove receiver sat inputs, access cards, etc before canceling)?

No, on those boxes you can continue to watch after canceling service.

I knew that, but I seem to remember reading at some point that they should be disconnected from the satellite feed (or something similar) before cancelling service. I'll probably just pull the plug before I call just in case.

I'm doing the same thing (Canceling DirecTv) when my Roamio arrives next week.

I plan on calling DirecTv and suspending my account so there will be no bill and no issues watching recorded shows.

I did this a few years ago when I tried open air for a while. Told them I was going out of the country for 6 months.

If for some reason I hate cable and return my Roamio, I won't lose my "been a DirecTv customer since..." status.

Interesting strategy but it seems they take better care of "new" subscribers
